For those not following Hartford, he was off to a bit of a slow start as he had a limited role and was obviously adjusting while still being way younger than the league average. He had 2 points in his first 9 games.

Over his last 10 games including tonight, he has a line of 4-4-8. Starting to really settle in.
Isn’t he one of the top 5 youngest players in the league? I think i read that somewhere earlier in the season but can’t seem to find it now.

I'm completely sold on Sykora. He probably won't get an NHL look this year, but there are going to be some bottom six veterans in camp next year who find themselves in a surprise battle for their roster spot with the kid.
I imagine 1 year deals for Bonino, Pitlick, Wheeler are all set up to open up spots for these kids if they can show they are ready. I imagine if they continue to produce, they will eventually get the next call up. Even to just see them in practice again. Vesey opens up another spot the year after.

Those players or others will be signed. Drury isn't going to just hand a spot to the young guys. They'll have to earn it.

Which is what we want.
But league min deals, like the ones handed to pitlick, bonino and co are easily buried or lost to waivers if they get beat out

Lets you sort by age.

Luneau is the only other 2022 2nd round pick, and he's on the Ducks now. Not sure if he's that good or it's just cause the Ducks suck. Everyone else is a first rounder.

Thanks!

Super impressive to be doing what he’s doing being the baby in the league!

Sykora will have to earn his spot next year. Cuylle did though, so we know it is possible. This couldn't really be said for some Rangers teams of past that were competing. He'd be a great LW addition to have, he and Cuylle could compete/swap for the 3rd line and 4th line roles.

Stuff and things player who is actually good.
He reads as the kind of player Trivigno was supposed to be for us.

Also, IMO the type of player who doesn't have to be on the top 9 to start his NHL career. Could start on the 4th next year when hopefully Goodrow is gone.

For those keeping score at home, the last goal apparently deflected in off Korczak and was later credited to him. So Sykora is at 3-8-11 in 20 games.
That makes it a 4-point game for Korczak as well. And 3 points in the other 17 games :P

Hopefully that gets him going. With Brodz up with the Rangers, he should get more opportunities.

A point is a point is a schmoint. The question is who lost a schmoint?

How far away is his kid legitimately?

He's only 19 years old. He's the youngest player in the AHL. What he's doing at that age, is incredible. I'd say at least this full season in the AHL and next year he might earn a spot in camp. Nothing surprises me anymore with this kid.

He was killing penalties in pro hockey at age 16. That alone is baffling.
