Lambert's actually a Flames fan who just lives in Boston. Has often openly talked about his Calgary fandom.
The fact is outside of McDonagh and Staal the defense this season was pretty bad. Girardi is a monumentally overpaid #4-5 defenseman (
http://hfboards.mandatory.com/showpost.php?p=103314383&postcount=527 if you don't understand why), Dan Boyle is horrible and shouldn't be in the league, Kevin Klein is a #4 at absolute best, and Yandle who is good spent almost no time with the team and struggled through most of that time.
This team is good they're just not THAT good. They wouldn't have stood a chance against the Hawks or Ducks. They weren't as good as the Lightning.
I don't think they should have beat the Caps and I don't think they were as good as the Habs. There were other teams in the West I had above them too.
Also, he's right in that Rangers fans getting on Nash is misguided and wrong. The guy had the 2nd most points of any Ranger in the playoffs only to his center (who is SUPPOSED to have the most points) and was their best forward in the ECF. It's not Rick Nash's fault this team didn't win, it's the fact that money that could have gone to actual players was instead wasted on Boyle, St. Louis, and Glass. When you only have the illusion of depth you can be shut down easily.
