Hayes looks like someone has spiked his gatorade. He's just way off.

Edit: And Diaz looked great tonight, for the most part. McIlrath looked good as well. As to the two of them, Diaz looked like utter crap the other night, while McIlrath played well before, so if choosing between the two, I'd still go with McIlrath. But....Porque no los dos? AV likes having 8 D and 13 F, so why not send Glass to the minors and make room for both.

AV said he like Diaz on the PP. He didn't bring up the rest of his game with good reason. I could score those goals with the passes Miller and Stepan gave him. Is Diaz playing on the PP on this team? The Rangers need their 7th D to be more than a PP "specialist".

When Diaz played for us a few years back, I was quite happy with him in the Eminger/Hunwick role. A good option to have as a spare D-man.

My guess?

Kreider - Step - Miller
Nash - Brass - Zucc
Lindberg - Hayes - Fast
Stalberg - Stoll - Moore
Etem

McD - G
Staal - Boyle
Yandle - Klein
Diaz - McI

Glass is in over his head at this point, and, while Etem has been meh, Stoll and Stalberg have played well.

As for the D, AV's already said we're going to carry 8 if we can, and moving Glass allows for the 8.
Would be very happy with this roster.

I hope to god Hayes didn't read his press clippings all summer. He has looked crappy and has been called out twice by AV in the press.

I hope there there isn't a sophomore slump. Nowadays, you can't simply play your way into shape in the preseason. This isn't the 70's and 80's.

He looks out of shape if you ask me. Slow.

""It’s an enviable situation for any team, and the Rangers know that.

In most training camps around the NHL, there is a role of “depth defenseman” being fought for by a handful of veterans hanging on or young players trying to make an impression. And in most camps, that winner likely will receive a role on the third pair — in the starting lineup.

For the Blueshirts, the battle for depth defenseman is for the man who gets the honor to be a healthy scratch. That’s because the top six, the men who start, are arguably the best group of six in the league.

“You look at our lineup, and there’s no weaknesses there,” Marc Staal told The Post after Saturday night’s 4-3 win over the Devils at Prudential Center. “We’re a very talented group and a lot of different guys bring a lot of different aspects. We compliment each other pretty well.""

This, and our goalie, is our advantage over other teams.

i agree thats how i would do it..

Etem like every young player with AV, they will have to earn playing time and show a complete game.. something i can see him doing with time, but he does have the size, speed and that skill level will come out.. he'll get the miller treatment but will improve..

After seeing what's he's done this pre-season, I really like Lindberg on the 3rd line now to take face offs. If we can move Glass, keeping 8 D seems like a good idea and see how things pan out for a trade later in the season.

Diaz unleashed a cannon. Literally WTF'd at it... also I would have had a freakout if McI scored there.

Because we haven't seen a New York Rangers defenseman shoot a one-timer probably in thr last 20 years. :sarcasm:
