Name a part of the game that isn't scoring pp goals and McI has been better at it.

And until tonight Diaz was hot garbage.

Diaz tonight was Bodie the other night. One two goal game doesn't beat multiple games of solid defense and smart break outs.

Diaz's resume extends beyond this preseason.

The goal is to out score the opposition! Goals are expected from the back end. I'm not really sure if your post is serious?

And preventing them from shooting or establishing extended zone time every night contributes more to out scoring them than being weak in your own zone and scoring 2 pp goals once.

Nothing to report on the corsi front.

Devils won that 27-24.

Nobody was any better than +4. Nobody was any worse than -5.

Eye-test game.

Can someone, pray tell, by what metric, has Dylan Mcllrath played better than Diaz?

Seriously this is the second time with this inane question. Have you watched any preseason game other than two power plays tonight? Diaz flat out sucked against the Flyers, he's hot garbage in the defensive end.

McI on the other hand looks ok, good in his own end, able to break up passes and not give the puck away by slapping up the boards constantly like Staal, Girardi are apt to do. Needs work in the offensive zone. Still light years better than Diaz.

Diaz was good tonight, but I'd rather go with McI at this point. He's never looked better out there. He doesn't skate in mud anymore.

Dylan is making the team because he is a better DEFENSEMAN then Diaz.

Not so fast, Diaz has shown better offensive play. Very important in AV's system, Ds must contribute up front. And where the heck is Dylan's physical play?

I think the bashing ofDiaz is a little premature. I didn't really see his other outings, but he was fine tonight and has been a good bottom-pair defenseman for longer than 3 preseason games where he wasn't amazing

Hayes sucked ass the other night in Boston! Should we relegate him to the AHL.

Hayes isn't a rookie competing with a journeyman for one of the last spots in the lineup. That comparison would have been better had it taken place a year ago.

Diaz has not outplayed McIlrath by any stretch. A majority of the game is played 5 on 5 where McIlrath has been the much better player (over Diaz and a bunch of others.)
