Otters win baby! Series tied up 2-2. Sea Dogs even at 3-3 in their game right now with a few minutes to go in the 3rd. Might be OT coming. Imama with a goal and 2 by Joseph

Howden has been very impressive as he just turned 19 last month. Played 5 games during regular season and scored 4 points. Now he has played two games in the playoffs and has 2 points. Hopefully another gem ... !

We already have two RD coming up from juniors next year in Spencer and Cernak. Raddysh is clearly superior to them offensively but his defensive game is an issue. We already have Thomas coming back and possibly Blujus so not enough spots for 3 RD. With us trading DeAngelo we are short an offense first guy so wouldn't be a bad option but would prefer to look for a LD one where we have room.

Speaking of.... what does the depth chart look like as of today for Syracuse defense for next season?

Assuming Koekkoek and Dotchin graduate full time:

Taormina - Thomas
Masin - Blujus
Walcott - Cernak / Spencer

*Taormina is UFA but performed really well - I expect them to bring him back. Blujus is RFA. Thomas, Masin, Cernak, and Spencer are on ELCs. Walcott has another year on his contract.
** Brodeur may come back. He is UFA but can be signed to an AHL only deal which helps alleviate roster spots and provides some depth on the left side.
***Don't think Comrie (UFA) and Racine (RFA) come back. Racine can easily be assigned to the ECHL as depth though ... similarly to what they did with Hart & Darcy this year.

Other notables: Sosunov (Russia), Zuhlsdorf (NCAA - Sophomore next year), nor MacLeod (NCAA - senior next year) are expected to be in Syracuse with the team next year. I am looking forward and hoping to get a closer look at Sosunov hopefully they bring him over for camp this year.

Interesting that spencer would be the 6/7 to start. Does his ELC slide a year if he comes back to the OHL? Or am I not understanding how that works.... thanks

It won't slide again. Once your 20 you don't slide is pretty much how it works, it's a bit more complicated than that but that's the short answer. He won't be back in the CHL anyway so nothing to worry about.

Otters win 2-1. Raddysh and Cirelli both with Assists.

I thought it went to Darren? I'd have to check but anyway it's good to see them jump into the series with a win. No offense to Erie but they have made things far more difficult than it has needed to be for their entire playoff run. I'll be happy for the Otters if they can finally win it all this year because they've had great teams for years now (including many years of Connor McDavid) and didn't make a championship of it.

It's pretty much now or never for these guys

Meh big whoop easy mistake to make. I'm just glad our prospects have once again have championship pedigree. Potentially for both the Otters and Sea Dogs to win championships and our players being some of the most important it speaks to how well we've drafted. I know we drafted players from great teams but it's not like Cirelli doesn't have 24 points, Raddysh 26 and Joseph 22 points. 20+ points is the kind of dominance that you would expect from a great prospect at the ages those young men are. It's not like they're passengers on a stacked team and they're getting points just because. They are driving the play and willing their team to victory every night. None more than Cirelli I'd say and he was traded to Erie and considered a project prospect when we drafted him. And let's not forget what an impact Stephens made as well for the London Knights and how well Ingram did in losing a playoff series with a .946 sv % and a 2.18 GAA and how Howden has played in the AHL playoffs. They've all been fantastic and it's so exciting to be able to follow so many young careers so closely.

I can only imagine how excited Wolf is. The Crunch are gonna be insane for the next couple of years.

Extremely excited. Brisbois/Yzerman need to bring back some very key veterans ... but the prospect lineup coming in is extremely promising. This team will probably be missing Gourde (NHL), Erne (NHL), Dotchin (NHL), Koekkoek (NHL), and Conacher (UFA). Vermin and Richard are already gone to Europe. I'm hoping next year the Crunch reflect something along the lines of:

McGinn (RFA) - Peca (RFA) - Condra (S)
Stephens (ELC) - Froese (RFA) - Bournival (RFA)
Dumont (RFA) - Yan (ELC)
Cirelli (ELC) - Joseph (ELC)

Darcy / Hart (ECHL). Tammela (ELC) / Ikonen (RFA) (are question marks). Imama should get a contract ... hope he comes in. And maybe a couple more depth signings the way Halmo and Bournival came in this year.

Taormina (UFA) - Thomas (ELC)
Masin (ELC) - Blujus (RFA)
Walcott (S) - Cernak / Spencer (ELC)

McKenna (UFA)
Ingram (ELC)

Conacher would really solidify the lineup in a great way ... but he might go seek more play time with a NHL team or go back to Europe the way Tambellini did last year.

Still surprised how high you seem to be on Thomas... Could he take a Dotchin route in the way that he will just one day arrive in Tampa out of "nowhere" and won't look back

I liked Thomas more than Dotchin to be honest. I'm as surprised as anyone to see how well Dotchin translated his game. That's why I initially thought two things: A) he is getting carried by Hedman and we had a fairly long discussion and look at stats to see if that was the case and B) thought he was being showcased as an add-on to a trade deal at the deadline. I had Blujus, Thomas, Dotchin (in that order) as having NHL upside. Now Thomas is getting play time over Blujus and Dotchin is at the top of the depth chart. To me is very intriguing and wish some of the credentialed sports journalists covering the team would raise the question of Blujus to Groulx and ask him why he is not getting any play time. I asked @boltprospects and they said Brodeur is a PK specialist and that Syracuse needs in that area are more pressing. That is why Brodeur is drawing in rather than Blujus. Now there is talk of Walcott drawing in instead of Brodeur against a speedier more skilled team like the Marlies ... Blujus again not found on the game day roster. Its perplexing ... at least to me. Blujus is turning 24 in January ... and is going on his third AHL season. Granted he spent a long time sidelined with injuries - but his fall from graces I don't quite understand.

Thomas is a great skater, better puck handler, more agile, and gets his pucks to the net. He is also a more apt PP QB. Where Dotchin is more an at home defenseman. Dotchin has the more powerful shot but Thomas can carry the puck much better. Dotchin is far grittier but Thomas is apt there as well as he carries a large frame. Blujus is in the middle of both of them:

Shot: Dotchin, Blujus, Thomas
Puck Carrying: Thomas, Blujus, Dotchin
Grit / Physicality: Dotchin, Blujus, Thomas
Speed: Thomas, Blujus, Dotchin

That's a wrap folks. Sea Dogs take the Armada to the back of the woodshed and whip em 6-3. A goal and 2 assists for Joseph tonight.

The kids are legit

. I have been following thes boards for over 10 years first time poster! As for Blujus it's about having surgery when coach tells you to do it at end of year. Groulx has rep for doing this to players. Did it in Rochester. He is a joke.

St John is playing on Sportsnet now. 2-0 after the first, Seadogs scored twice in the final minute i believe.

Joseph looks really good tonight, had a shorthanded breakaway stopped then scored on another one. Imama with the primary on Gauthier's goal.

Probably a safe bet the Sea Dogs are winning the President Cup. Fun fact: this is Boko's 3rd time in the Finals as he twice lost as a member of the Drakkar. I always felt bad for him because the Sea Dogs were rebuilding at the time of his trade there and now it looked to be 3rd time is the charm for him to be a champion

Dotchin will spend a lot time suspended given his penchant for dirt. Freddy Gauthier has a broken leg and is out 6 months resulting from Dotchin's late hit in Syracuse.
