I'd rahter Pulock and Griff making rookie mistakes than Striat and Hickey continuing to make rookie mistakes lol.

Pulock could be a weopon on our PP. He has a lightning shot and it's accurate.

Reinhart is a lot bigger than hickey and strait. We know the BS we are going to get with these clowns. Why night give our 2 best defensive prospects a chance. The wild have Dumba playing. I refuse to believe Dumba55 is better than Reinhart.

But we will likely see Donovan before we see these 2 studs. Donovan will be playing for Frolunda next year.

McDavid/Eichel may be the best 1/2 since Turgeon/Shanahan. Eichel looks great.

Glad you "refuse" to believe Dumba is better than Reinhart, but right now he is and it's not even close.

You know, that's a great point. I'm glad you brought it up.

Do you remember when Zach Bogosian and Luke Schenn looked better than Erik Karlsson and John Carlson? It wasn't even close and it illustrates your point perfectly.

Have to agree at this moment. Dumba looks damned good right now.

Dumba needs to be sheltered. If you want to play him his only use is as a 3rd pairing PP specialist. In terms of his own zone I rather play Brian Strait

Well put Konk.

Dumba has terrible hockey IQ/instincts. They don't call him Dumba55 for nothing.

Lots of people promise the future, but I'm into results. You don't think I'm pulling for Reinhart to become hopefully a top-pairing shutdown D-man? Dumba is better right now and that's something.

However forgetting him for a second...For me Reinhart has not impressed me since turning pro. I hope I'm wrong, but if you asked me right now to project who will have the better overall career no doubt I pick Pulock (and yes I'm aware their games are very different).

I don't even know why Dumba is being brought up, if you want to talk about the one that got away it was Trouba who has been a much better defenseman up to this point. Hell then there is Filip Forsberg

I wouldn't be surprised is Dumba becomes a consistent 45+ point guy but his defensive lapses will drive people crazy

I think you missed the point. The point is, the guy that makes the NHL first is not always the guy that has the better career. In fact, there's a large amount of examples that show the exact opposite, especially when it comes to defensemen. It means jack **** at this point that Dumba is in the NHL doing what he's doing and I'd bet you money Reinhart will be better in two years time.

I bet you would. I think Pulock will have a fine career, but Reinhart will make the team next season and begin his ascension into becoming a top four guy. Evetually he'll end up on the top pairing. Players with his intelligence and cool head are rare.

Dumba reminds me of David Tanabe. He's all tools no toolbox. I bet he fizzles out over time into a Keith Ballard type.

You are correct, Forsberg is the one that got away... from a lot of teams. Washington made the biggest mistake there.

That said, Reinhart will be like Ryan Suter. There's a reason why he's unanimously viewed as can't-miss by pro scouts. Highly intelligent, ice water in his veins. He's just not as good of a skater as Suter.

Ryan took a long time to come around and guys like Phaneuf were making a bigger impact earlier on. Fans were oogling. Ryan Suter was still thought of as having higher upside by a lot of scouts, but fans jumped on the guy that was doing it then.

I see the Dumba/Reinhart discussion playing out the same way. For some reason Reinhart has lost favor on these boards, even to guys like Pelech/Mayfield which is absurd. They are not and will not be in his class.

I think people here need to close hockeydb.com and just take a breath. If you aren't watching him, then don't grasp at numbers to try and extrapolate some sort of conclusion as to his development. Numbers mean nothing at this point. He's right on track to be the stud he was expected to be. It takes time, but he's still the gem he always was.

I have to say, if Reinhart's progression continues, he should be a good defensive dman. I'd be thrilled if he becomes Ken Morrow II. Reinhart definitely looked better the second time he was up with the Isles. And that's a good sign. Soundtiger fans can attest to his play in Bridgeport, I didn't see any games so I have no clue if he was good or bad.

This is the same kind of talk that happened when Strome wasn't a regular yet.

I remember Strome was the last one to play in the NHL from the top ten of the draft that year. He sure was the wrong pick.

There is way too much common sense in this post. You should probably edit it.

I see Reinhart being similar to Dougie Hamilton, but slightly less offensive and slightly higher hockey IQ.

I think Pulock will turn heads. He has an NHL calibre release...as opposed to the dog slow release of our current team....man, our guys are soooo slow reacting and shooting the puck.

Oh, I completely disagree. When Strome was 20 years old, he was the best player in the AHL. When he was 19 years old, he was arguably the best forward in the entire CHL. Everyone who was actually paying attention to Strome gave him positively glowing reviews.

I'm not saying that Reinhart isn't good, but I don't think there are many people who wouldn't have preferred development like Lindholm or Trouba. On the other hand, there's a decent argument that there's barely any difference in value between Nugent-Hopkins, Strome, Huberdeau, and (lately) Zibanejad.

The problem is Reinhart is good. It seems people are constantly down on him because he is not 1)Flashy or 2)A point producer.

The guy was made to shut down teams. When he reaches his prime he will be out on the Isles blue line shutting down the best players in the league. I don't care what Trouba does, he won't be as good defensively as Reinhart I feel. He may put up more points but that is fine. Lindholm same thing.

The only knock I will put on Big Griff is sometimes he plays small in the dzone and by small I mean he will shy away from a hit to make a poke check, and that makes me nervous but when he realizes his size and grows man muscle he will be a force. I see him as a 10 to 20 point dman that plays very hard minutes when he matures. Other than that he does everything asked of him. I think next year he and Pulock may be your 3rd pairing to start the season.
