Rees doesn’t quite fit into the criteria outlined above. I don’t think he would go 30 full spots higher than on draft day, but he would be in the mix to be a first-round pick, which is notable. Rees, when he has been on the ice and not suspended, has been dominant. He’s full of skill while playing a very hard nose game. He gets to the net through his ability to dangle defenders and his will. He’s a very smart player, too. His skating is still average, but how consistent his playmaking and chance creation has been in the tough areas has impressed scouts a lot.
