It's hilarious Aho is the exact opposite of his name's meaning in Japanese haha. One of the smartest players in the league and he comes across as intelligent in real life just judging from the way he speaks in real life.

Non Cam Ward goalies - 4 GA in 7 periods, 938 SV%
Cam Ward - 3 GA in 2 periods, 864 SV%
Not to read too much into the numbers this early, but Darlings getting a major injury this year isn't he....

We don't even know if Darling will be ready for the start of the regular season at this point. I think Cam is a saboteur.

Since when? Gleason? He was all about that God love him. Or do you mean the reign of Kevin Westgarth, the biggest thug in the league who for some reason elected to eschew thuggery immediately upon being traded here, because the Triangle has to be all family friendly or some such claptrap.

He looks fully NHL ready. Not a stud or anything over-optimistic, but he's what we need him to be on that bottom pair.
Peters all but stated in the postgame that he has made the team.

Something to consider about Fleury: even though it feels like we've taken it slow with his development and he's fallen off the prospect hype radar, there are only two defensemen in his draft class who have played more than half a season in the NHL. One of those is Ekblad, who was a full grown man at 18. The other is Tryamkin.
So from a leaguewide development standpoint, Fleury is arriving right on time... maybe even a little on the quick-developing side. I point this out because I know I'm not the only one who found that draft pick underwhelming and was not blown away by his next couple of seasons. But to some extent I'm wearing Canes goggles when I look at defenseman prospects. We've been so spoiled lately by quick-turnaround draft picks it's just ridiculous. Just about any other team would look at what Fleury's doing and think "wow, this kid sure did jump up the ranks in a hurry".

This is true. HF, as well as NHL, as well as other "pundits" all rank Travis Sanheim as one of the top 15 prospects in hockey right now. Reading the Flyer's board, there's a very real possibility that he goes back to the AHL for another season this coming year. I've been in a mode of "wait and see as we won't know what we have for many years" with respect to Fleury, but it's hard when you see the guys picked right after him, Nylander and Ehlers putting up 60+ point seasons and displaying offensive skill that, outside of Skinner, doesn't exist on the Canes.
I remember reading the Leafs management talking about that draft saying they knew they'd be able to get either Ehlers or Nylander when the pick came and they were very surprised when the Canes took Fleury leaving them with their choice. Not that Fleury wasn't picked about where many people hand him ranked, just that they viewed Nylander and Ehlers as much more talented players and fully expected the Canes to take one of them, leaving the Leafs with the other.
That's the nature of the draft. Sometimes, you get lucky with a Skinner, Faulk, Aho, Slavin, Pesce and hopefully Necas type, sometimes you end up with Ryan Murphy or Zach Boychuk. Fleury will probably fall somewhere in between.

Carrick was damn good the game before from what I heard and overall has had a great camp. Wonder what the Canes are going to do with him if they are giving Fleury that #6 spot. I think Carrick could very well be on the verge to becoming an NHL defenseman too.
I kinda hope we waive Dahlback so we can carry Carrick & Fleury. Carrick intrigues me as he could be another guy we can use on the point of the power play.
Simply put our D depth is insane. I think the front office has a tough decision on how to utilize Carrick since he's waiver eligible.

Maybe they keep 8 defensemen, like they did much of last year, at least until the state fair road trip is over?
