He looked really good. I'm very excited for him this season. He has fan favorite written all over him.

The skating looked legit. If that guy can maintain +speed past the preseason then the whole league is gonna shit their pants.

People underrated his motor. He wasn’t the floaty type. He tried. Then he couldn’t do it here because he couldn’t keep up. He had an easier time keeping up today so we saw it more again.

The reason I disagree is because there are plenty of nhler's that are way slower skaters than him but are successful nhlers. I don't think his skating is that awful. What makes it look abysmal though is how slow he processes the game. You can be bad at one thing, you can't be bad at both.

I never said he was the floaty type. I said that's how snipers tend to be.

What’s your point?

Slafkovsky played a pretty good 2nd and awesome 3rd period, he took a step compared to last year already, more used to NA ice. They played him near 19 minutes with PP1 in his first game in 8-9 months. How are they ruining him?
I think he was joking.

He'd (like I would) love to have him here 'cause we are greedy and want ALL the talent. Muaahahahaahahah!! :naughty:

Awesome! Hopefully he’s lucky enough to catch a few more games this year!

In the future, definitely, but I think we'll wait a little bit on bringing him frequently. It's what made the preseason game perfect to bring him, didn't have to worry about a big crowd or disrupting people if he wanted to be on the concourse and run around.

Did you have those headphones for him I see around the arena? Considering that for the nephews

Regrettably, we didn't but it's because we were 99% confident he would refuse to keep them on. Our son had to wear a helmet early on to help shape his skull as he had a flatter spot in the back, so after having to wear that for close to 24 hours a day for close to a year, he's against virtually any cranium accessories in honor of Mitch Hedberg. Sunglasses, hats, you name it and he just yanks it right off.

It's preseason, 1game/player, and the level of competition wasn't the toughest, so you can't make big assumptions just yet. I think the coaching staff did great with the split roster, the montreal squad was definitely a weaker one, but adding Jack's line there made it very competitive. But Montreal was also missing their 3 best players and icing a very young d core.

I was trying to watch both games at the same time, so I might have missed some things. I thought Nemec looked fantastic, if this is how he plays every game, he should start at NHL no doubt. Every time I noticed him, he made a great play. Even if he was only credited for one goal, he was a part of at least 2 other goals happening.

And since it's only a one game it's hard to say if some players "just" had a good game or have taken another step forward entirely. But if this is the Bahl we're gonna get, my fears of the D core taking a step back are totally gone, he looks great! And if Mikey has taken yet another step forward, that's gonna be huge for our bottom6 depth.

And Holtz has also improved a lot, and that's what matters the most even if he doesn't make the team. He really doesn't have to with all the depth we have, and as long as he keeps improving there's nothing to worry about. His physical tools and compete level looks nhl ready to me, everything else can be worked on and could be partially nerves and/or still adjusting to the nhl tempo. I think we might sometimes unfairly over evaluate every little thing he does and forget that every one makes mistakes, kills the play and gives away the puck every now and then. I didn't think he looked any more out of place there than Palat, Haula etc. It's just that Mercer has been such a homerun pick we might expect the same from Holtz.

As @Saugus pointed out earlier, it's always fun to beat up on Philly no matter if it's Preseason or not.
Now I’m feeling this about mtl, not about flyers. Rangers are there where they should be too.

We didn’t dress Luke because we worried about potential injury. Now Anderson showed he is worth it and we can trade Luke for him.

Yeah this was a preseason game that they dominated, but all Holtz can do for now is play the games put in front of him.

And he looked better, absolutely. If he can just tamp down on the sloppy plays with the puck, I think we'll be real happy with him at the end of the season.

From last night:

Had the tenders and fries. Definitely improved. $20 but it's enough food for two people. The fries are real good.

I was a little disappointed in Filmon. I saw him up close from the sixth row and he's probably 125 pounds soaking wet. A lot of rookie mistakes from Filmon and the other young guys mainly stickhandling over the blue line and losing the puck instead of dumping it in. Happened a lot.

Holz definitely looks better. I am REALLY hoping he takes that next step.
Palat and Haula look like they are ready to go.

I have to say, Mike "Innocent til Proven Guilty" McLeod looked absolutely incredible. The fourth line of Nosek-McLeod-Bastian is going to TERRORIZE other teams.

Also good god the Flyers are bad. I didn't notice til the third period that Couturier was actually playing.

Some of the names on that team are interesting including the law firm of Farabee, Frost, Furry, and Bonk.
