Anyone has a rundown of the press conference? I was out walking my dog when it happened, and I'm trying to save data at the moment anyway.

Roy has been dealing with injuries for the past two years. Been working out with a specialist. Now, healthiest he has been in his career. Happy to have a chance to revive his career.

Ribeiro dealt with personal issues last year dealing with family. He asked around and friends told him that Nashville was a great place for a family. He called Poile and they spoke about life. He called Lavi and they spoke about hockey. He flew to Nash on his own dime to check out the area. Poile met with him and his family for four days while they were in town. Decided that it was a good place for his family and they bought a house. Poile was comfortable with his personal situation and asked him if he wanted to sign.

Ribs admitted to having issues last year due to being separated from his family. Thinks that Nashville is a good family situation and hopes that he can concentrate on his job.

Neal is happy about Ribeiro signing.

Polie said that he likes [Neal with Ribs] and [Smith with Roy]. Asked what signings mean for Hook, and Poile said that he expects Hook to play center (probably 3C). Also said that Cullen and Joke will probably have to play wing.

I have really commented in a while, but this signing has me excited.

I did not want Ribeiro, even this morning, but thats why I am excited. Ribeiro had to sell himself to even get signed. This is it for him so I think we have possibly the most motivated Mike Ribeiro ever and while he is getting older, he might still have the skill to get 70 points. Its sad but he might be the most talented center we've ever had.

Low risk, high reward. Clearly slots alongside Smith.

That said, he's not scoring 70 points...the guy just got bought out.

I wouldn't say that at all. The guy had a bad year and still had basically fifty points.
A divorce can be very hard on anyone, let alone being miles from your family an trying to play hockey. The guy is a sniper.

I think he could do very well, but almost PPG....highly doubt it.

Yeah because he's only a season removed from doing that and the past season he had a lot on his mind. I think he's got a lot left in the tank and with a finisher like Neal on his wing they'll both be close to a PPG production. My guess is 65-70 each.

Still better than most of our forwards. We need all three or four of our lines scoring not just the first two lines like in the past unless those two lines are truly a top line and can score. This at least gives us more depth in our offensive lines while we wait for our rookies to develop better.

Lots of optimism here. I hope you guys are right. I think the high end we can expect is about 65. 70+ would shock me. I'm not saying I expect nothing out of him - I think 45-50 is reasonable - but I just don't see 70+ points out of Ribiero.

Hopefully I am dead wrong.

I feel better w/ the added pieces than before these additions. If all fails it will at least give us some offensive reserves if we get beat up next season as it seems we get plagued w/ injuries every season lately.

After watching the interview, I'm really excited. Ribeiro is going to be one motivated hockey player and he was almost giddy when talking about playing with Neal again. He's relocating his family here...and if we can have some success this year, that points to him likely extending his stay here in Nashville.

I love all of the changes...its unfortunate that it took Trotz leaving to make it happen. Is the start of the season here yet?? :handclap:

What this and the Roy signing tell me is that Lecavalier talks broke down, and with the injury to Fisher, Poile needed to double up.

This one has a little more risk than the Roy signing, but if Ribeiro comes in here with an attitude of having something to prove and has chemistry with Neal, this could work out really well.

Maybe a lesson learned from last years decision to roll the dice with Hutton (unproven backup) while Pekka was coming off a major surgical procedure. Signing Roy and Ribiero are safer choices than going with unproven kids with little to no NHL experience.

Really excited about this signing. I have a feeling he's gonna step it up really well this year. He and Neal could be a really really good combo.
