Currently we're 8 points out of the playoffs.

The Leafs have a tough week: Pit, Pit, Car (and then Tampa the day after the deadline)
We have: Det, Was, and Ott (and then we have Vancouver after the deadline).

Will we "gain" ground or "lose" ground?
If we win all 3 and the Leafs lose all 3, we're 2 points out.
If the Leafs win all 3 and we lose all 3, we're 14 points out.

What's your prediction: How many points will we be out of the playoffs by next Monday (The Trade Deadline)?

(Note, how many points we are out could still shape MB's strategy).

Ottawa
Probably beat detroit and ottawa and lose to washington. But toronto and pittsburgh probably split there games. So no movement at all

Pittsburgh is flying right now. Zucker's a perfect fit and they're riding their tip two lines. They'll be tough to beat.

Needed 6 of 8 points the past week to make a serious push, got 1 point instead. I wouldn't be money on them getting closer than the current 8-10 point gap, this team just does not seem to have a push in it, no mojo right now.

Toronto has really tough games ahead, tge the Habs not so much. If Weber comes back there is a non 0 chance they get within 4 points by next week. I still expect Bergy to sell.

Toronto's play is pretty bad.

No we aren't,

We are 9 points out, we won't win a tiebreaker,

Toronto have a game in hand, if they win that game we are 11 points out,

We are not going to be 9 or 11 points BETTER then Toronto will be over a 20 game period,

It's over,

Only a fool like MB would still think this team has a chance at making the playoffs

We have to beat Toronto in the final game to get in. So say Toronto wins their game in hand and we beat them. That makes us 8/9 points behind them for the remaining games.

But your other point is the point of this thread: MB won't be a seller until after saturday's game at the earliest. This was only confirmed with Weber now trying to return and play injured. And, how many points we're out on Sunday may make him not a seller at the deadline - ex. if we're 4 points out of the playoffs. Interesting week upcoming.

That game will mean nothing to either team,

Actually, it might mean something for us.....a better draft pick

This week, however, could be huge for the future of this organization. If we're 12 or 14 points out at the end of the week, at the high prices vets are going for, MB could potentially sell Tatar or Petry for a suzuki or Brannstrom type piece. If we're 4 points out that's out of the question.

Very big week of hockey coming up. It's irrelevant what you or I would do. What matters is what MB will or won't do if we're 4 points out. So what matters is how many points we'll be out this Sunday.

MB ain't selling, even if we 10 points out at the deadline, the man is too stubborn
