Zack Smith injured Dzingel in practice. Wonderful. Could be a serious shoulder issue. Might not be able to trade him at the deadline.

Wonderful guy that Zack Smith is.

Where do you get this stuff?
1. How did it happen?
2. How serious is the injury?
3. Fast forward to the TDL
4. How exactly was Smith directly responsible? There must be others we could line up to blame here.. starting with his parents parents

Depends on the severity obviously. Could be a week, could be months.

Lol.

No defensive problems on our team, just need more goal scoring.
Scoring goals has been a big problem for us for a few weeks, so yes. We've played better defensive hockey without Boro. Putting him back in the lineup makes us a worse defensive team. No Boro helps us play D. We need help, just not in the form of MB.

He must be in the lineup for his offensive skills.

The reason you don't like Boro is because he can't sake the puck through the entire team and score. He's not in the lineup for that though. Most teams scoring go down when they lose first line centre, powerplay has struggled a bit but penalty kill hasn't.

I don't like Boro because he's one of the worst players in the entire NHL and hurts our team with his terrible defensive play, lack of any kind of skill and terrible penalties.

Duchene is on the ice for more goals against than Boro.

Duchene has been on the ice for 545 minutes against top lines and top defensive units. Duchene averages 3 minutes more of TOI per game over Boro.

Borowiecki has been on the ice for 256 minutes against bottom 6 forwards.

Borowiecki has 12 giveaways and 2 takeaways (-10) while Duchene has 24 giveaways but also has 20 takeaways (-4).

Goals for per 60 at 5 on 5 with Duchene on ice: 5.0
Goals against per 60 at 5 on 5 with Duchene on ice: 4.6
Total impact: +0.4 goals per 60

Goals for per 60 at 5 on 5 with Borowiecki on ice: 2.4
Goals against per 60 at 5 on 5 with Borowiecki on ice: 2.9
Total impact: -0.5 goals per 60

The goal of the game of hockey is to score more goals than the other team. Whether the other team scores 2 or 5 it doesn't matter, what matters is that you score more than the other team. While it is true that less goals are scored while Boro is on the ice (mostly because he faces easy competition), it is also extremely important to consider that the other team always scores more goals than us while he's on the ice which results in losses.

When Duchene is on the ice more goals are scored by the opposing team (and by us), but we always end up scoring more goals than the other team which results in wins.

The goal of the game is not to minimize goals against, it's always to score more goals than the other team. If you minimize goals against but can't score... that's not valuable at all.

I also really don't get your point here. Matt Duchene plays for the Ottawa Senators. Why wouldn't you want to admit that he clearly has a better impact on the game than Boro? It's no shame, Duchene is one of the best players in the entire league. I have no clue what you're trying to prove. Feels like you're just trying to spark a debate for no reason or trying to be a contrarian.

Does anyone know where that -0.5 type of ratio ranks among the entire league?

Duchene is on the ice for more goals against than Boro. Boro kills penalties, Duchene usually does not.
