Everyone is reading into this game too much. This game is bad defense, unforced turnovers, bad outlet passes, and terrible goaltending.

didn't like danault just dumping that puck when they pulled the goalie, lots of skill on the ice, just a cheap giveaway and instant empty netter

This is sort of what we should expect this season.

Ability to score a rush of quality goals? Check.

Dangerous power play? Check.

Inability to hold a big lead? Check.

Young players remaining on the periphery? Check.

Struggling to win the board play battles? Check.

Questionable goaltending? Check.

Lack of mental strength and discipline from certain top offensive players? Check.

Struggling to deal with self-imposed roster shape/limitations? Check.

They will be good enough to out score bad teams and hold their own with mid-level squads, but struggle against the better teams. Not much has changed - except there is now very little room to make any necessary adjustments.

I really enjoy watching Dubois, and I am glad he is here, but it was the wrong trade to make in this situation.

It's been suspect GM-ing beginning with the Danault signing, not that any of the players he'd procured are awful; just not the moves of a rebuilding team. But we've talked about this many times—this game is just further evidence to show the still-believers that it is not working.

Yea this is the wall they hit as a team because they tripled down to build around an out of prime Kopitar/Doughty/Quick.

The Kings picked Gabe Vilardi 11th overall in 2017, that's soon to be 7 years ago. Since then how many of the players they have drafted are playing a key role on the team today? Vilardi is no longer on the team. Turcotte is nothing so far, Bjornfot is nothing so far, Kupari is no longer on the team, Grans is no longer on the team and Byfield is playing out of position. Kaliyev still hasn't established himself as a scorer, they stupidly dealt Faber. Zero key players in 7 years. This team is a zombie retool with B-level stars like Fiala, Danault, Dubois etc. propping up the corpse of a failed rebuild. It's a joke and a mirage.

Let’s waive JAD and Bjornfot so we don’t have to wonder if we made the wrong choice.

It's not like we have any easy games to start the year btw. This month we've got the Avs, Canes, Bruins, Vegas and Toronto, with 2 games against the Yotes and 1 against the Jets. Can't fall asleep to start the year.
