Well not really a bold position to be in with the Leafs sitting 16th in the league in points. Very much in that middle zone of the league.
What is even the significance of 'power rankings'?
Power rankings are meaningless in the most unpredictable team sport on the planet. I lol at 'power rankings'.
It was interesting that the Leafs ranking wasn't very good while their record was.
Is Fenwick Close meaningless I wonder?
And guess where they are now 9 months later?

The underlying numbers remain a concern, but there's nothing wrong with banking points and the Leafs are 9-1-1 in the past 11 games and part of the reason for it, aside from goaltending, is production from RW Mike Santorelli, who has 13 points in those 11 games.
Key Injuries: D Roman Polak (ankle), LW Leo Komarov (concussion).

Leafs move up to 12th. from 15th.
S.A. CORSI%: 45.2% -- about 4th. worst in the league.
Hottest team in the league, just beat the best team in the league.
only good enough for 12th place.
instead of keeping score of who actually wins games, they just track corsi
Toronto and Montreal are the only 2 teams in the top 14 that have a S.A CORSI% < 50%.
i hate when media outlets do this. these are not "power rankings" - call them monthly rankings or something because you are abusing the term.
if these were truly power rankings there is no way you could justify having the leafs any lower than 5.
How the heck is Columbus 5 spots ahead of us? We're 7 points ahead, even though they have 2 games in hand, and no team in the league has been as hot as us the past little while (though there are some comparable).
Montreal I can at least understand since they're technically ahead, even though 6 spots seems a bit much given how close we are.
don't look at NHL.com as of Dec 12th we weren't even in the top 16, that better change in tomorrow's release. 3 points away from being the best in the East.
Why do advanced stats need to be added to everything this year.
Why do advanced stats need to be added to everything this year.
Eyesight makes a bad eyewitness as everyone sees what they want to see.
That stats don't lie when used correctly to help determine what they were gathered for in the first place.
