Both Rutherford and Allvin have stated many times that they've been impressed by the Canucks digging down and competing hard every night under Boudreau. But they won't be fooled by the record.
This is basically the same team that imploded in the first 25 games of the season, that essentially cost them any realistic hopes for the playoffs.
The bottom line for teams below the playoff bar, is that unless they've been hit with slew of devastating injuries, they're in lottery-land for a reason. And in the case of the Canucks, their roster depth isn't nearly good enough and right now they're being forced to use guys that an expansion team would probably pass on.
Realistically, once the Aquilini's lit the fuse and blew up the front office and coaching staff in November, the rest of the season was all about setting the table for next year.
What happens this off-season is far more important than anything that happens in the last 13 games or so.
