Concerning myself I was/am counting how many games were/is left to go to the finals. Look at where we're now... Time changes...

Mods,

Could you change the 9.5 in the title of the thread to 8.5?

If Drouin returns for Saturday's game, we'll have a decent forwards corps:

Tatar Danault Gally
Kovalchuk Suzuki Armia
Drouin Domi Lehkonen
Poehling Thompson Weise/Cousins.

(Send KK down to Laval and have Bouchard spend some time with him.)

If I were MB the longest I would wait is till Feb 15th before I make a decision. We have 9 games between now and then. If we pick up 16 out of 18 points, it'll be a tough but it's doable. The only game that might be too much is the Boston one:

Fla
CBJ
NJD
Ana
Tor
Ari
Bos
Pits
Dal

But let's see how they respond with these two afternoon games this weekend.

I'm really looking forward to the game on Saturday. Although there's no Drouin having Gallagher, Armia, and Kovalchuk in the lineup makes us a much better team than the team we had to watch without them...

I'm not sure MB will make his decisions at the deadline based on this year's post seaon fate alone. I think he'll be looking ahead to the next post season as well. We clearly need to be deeper at the forward position and to strengthen the dcore if we're going to compete for a playoff spot - as I believe is MB's intention. So why would he trade players to make us less deep at forward and to weaken our dcore for next year?

Looking at the standings, there will be big incentives for FLA & CBJ to win their games against the Habs this weekend. MTL will be lucky to come out of that with 2 pts.

Got to start somewhere, and just have to win and go on a convincing winning streak.

We are not making the playoffs...heres to an 0-32 ending to another miserable season.......see yous at the draft!!!!!

My sense as well, unless there's a M.Night Shyamalan twist.

It's over guys, stop hoping for a playoff berth. It's mathematically impossible.

This thread is to count down to when it's mathematically impossible. Since we don't know the exact number of points it will take to make the playoffs, these are the mathematical scenarios to be counted down, when it comes to how many losses we have left:

If we lose 8.5 more games in our next 30, we can't get to 97 points.
If we lose 8 more games in our next 30, we can't get to 98 points.
If we lose 7.5 more games in our next 30, we can't get to 99 points.
If we lose 7 more games in our next 30, we can't get to 100 points.
If we lose 6.5 more games in our next 30, we can't get to 101 points.

Can the mods change the 8.5 in the title of the thread to 7.5?

If we lose 7.5 more games in our next 28, we can't get to 97 points.
If we lose 7 more games in our next 28, we can't get to 98 points.
If we lose 6.5 more games in our next 28, we can't get to 99 points.
If we lose 6 more games in our next 28, we can't get to 100 points.

If we lose 7.5 more games in our next 29, we can't get to 97 points.
If we lose 7 more games in our next 29, we can't get to 98 points.

We only have 28 games to go. Our record will have to be 22-6 to make the playoffs.
