What are you expecting in return for Wood?
A 2nd round pick or a 3rd pairing/bottom pairing defensemen who belongs in the NHL and not the AHL. The package of both Wood and Butcher to entice a trade for a better defensemen is an option too.

For reference our bottom D are Conor Carrick who is okayish, Matt Tennyson who doesn't belong in the NHL and Fredrik Claesson who also doesn't belong in the NHL. so yeah....

As a leaf fan who watched Carrick for years... That assessment is bang on.

There’s two problems with most of these players that people want moved.
A) flat salary cap
B) expansion draft.

Take Virtanen for instance. A team trading for him not only needs the cap space for him, but they need to want him badly enough to protect him in the expansion draft. Why would you give up assets for him only to risk losing him to Seattle?

We probably deserve after pumping David Clarksons stats so high that the leafs thought it was a good idea to sign him to that contract.

Please forgive us for our sins ^.^

Water under the bridge ;) intriguing scenario with Wood beijg available - could see a deal there

Tampa has to get rid of two of them, not 1. Need to clear about $6M - $8M of salary. That's with both Sergachev and Cirelli bridged.
It more than likely will only be one, Stamkos will start on LTIR and make some space. They also will be using a few more rookie contracts.

Tampa won't head into the season like that with the plan on saving cap space cause Stamkos is on LTIR for a bit. That's very risky. According to my calculations, Tampa has to move $6M - $8M of salary out.

For the Wild:

Either Dumba or Brodin
Either Greenway or Donato
Parise is a longshot

Not sure anyone else is traded, but the only guys I absolutely can't see being moved are Fiala, Kaprizov, Suter, Spurgeon. Prospects/AHL players are fair game, no untouchables there.
Dumba huh? Other than centers what are the immediate needs in Minny?

Also think Virtanen isnt in the regular season line up, he's had one good playoff game so far. One of those two will be attached to get rid of one of Bennings bad contracts
While I realize that you'd like to package him with bad contract, is Dermott for Virtanen a basis you'd consider from Toronto?

Nick Leddy
Andrew Ladd (if the Parise deal gets sorted out)
Possibly Thomas Hickey

That’s a really, really good offer.
Lots of Jets fans are highly skeptical of OEL, so it's predicated on the expectation that he reverts to his play of a few years ago. Also, Jets fans live Heinola.
