Aresenal trying to pass out of the back is one of my favorite things about this sport.

They’re so incompetent.

Sport has no shortage of inflexible managers who want to play their exact style no matter which players they have on the field.

It’s like Emery told them to play out of the back, but never once drilled them or instructed them on how to move and pass to do it effectively.

It’s basically guaranteed that they get one or two passes, block a player in the corner, and end up booting it long and hoping. There’s zero clue in how to move so you have an open pass or an outlet.

He's always been world class on the ball, and really bad at 1on1s. His best time at this most recent Chelsea stint was when they played 3 at the back under Conte. Last year he was outstanding moving forward, but often pretty dreadful trying to defend.
