I wouldn't. Smith and Rust are basically even. One makes 1.5 Mil more.
Smith also didn't have the best of years....neither did Rust though. I'd rather sell high on Rust for a 1st or a prospect.

Eh. Smith is a pure goal scorer. Like i said he and Rust are basically the same player. Both have a case of tunnel vision.
Rust is a good defensive player when he's not with Sid and plays his natural bottom 6 game.
Rust is cheaper. So i would rather just keep him. But ultimately i think the smart move is to sell on Rust this offseason for a 1st or a prospect.
But I don't want to see Rust/Crosby again for another year. So maybe i would do the trade just so it's not possible to ever put Rust with Crosby ever again.

I don’t see Smith as a pure goal scorer at all. You must be thinking of Marsh.
Smith has only scored more than 25 goals once.

Marsh is great with Playmaking. so no.
Rust aswell has only scored 25+ once...But Rust is still what i consider a shoot first guy who is not a good playmaker and is a pure goal scorer.
Tons of guys in the NHL are pure goal scorers who only give you 15-20 goals. (Vatrano, Craig Smith, Sprong, Grabner and the legend Brandon Pirri)
I would Say McCann aswell.

You must not watch Vegas. Marsh is the goalscorer on that line. Smith is the playmaker.

Smith is a guy who loves to take the puck himself and drive to the net. He and Rust are not what ones would call playmakers.
Marsh had almost tripple the assists Smith had this season.

I don't think Eichel's injury is serious. It's only serious if he doesn't get the surgery is why he's pissed. The Sabres want to kick the can down the road with his injury and Jack ain't having it and that's smart.
Because look at what that mentality has done to our stars. Malkin is held together with super glue and Crosby supposedly had a concussion but it was whiplash the whole time.

I mean if we want Saad then what they need to do is move Zucker and Pettersson and create that space to add him in addition to keeping Guentzel and have enough cap left over for a better 4c and a RD that can help POJ.
I'd be proactive about it. I'd move Zucker for Saad and a conditional pick. If Saad doesn't sign it turns into a 1st or some shit if he does then the Pens send them a 6th.
I think we could get Saad to sign at 5x5.
