It was a bit odd even at the time.

McCutchen had been worth a total of 2 WAR over the previous two years and was a year away from FA. The reaction would indicate they took this return for the 2012-15 version of McCutchen.

In any case, the home run here nearly cancels out the Chris Archer mistake for the Pirates.
