The Giants have gone all in for another crack at the World Series.

Pittsburgh on the other hand, yesh. At least they got nice looking ball caps..

Extremely wild. Until he cuts down on walks he won't amount to much.

He's definitely improved that although it's still an issue. Between triple A and Majors lat year his BB/9 is 4.37 or about a walk more per 9 than average.

Cant' teach spin rate but you can teach control so that's a positive

If Nutting doesn't want to pay to retain his top players..... why the hell does he care to own a baseball team?!

Because he inherited a money-printing business at a time most of his holdings were in serious danger (the family fortune is small-town newspapers and Pennsylvania ski resorts...so...yeah). Why do anything differently when you have a golden goose?

They picked a hell of a time to be coming up for a new local television deal.

Sell the team and cash out. If you don't care to improve it or keep your guys, you may as well sell it and have a nice fortune for your family to live off of. Fans already don't like him, especially after the last few days.

the attendance could be 0 and the team would still make a healthy profit, so good luck with using that as a threat.

Pirates were so exciting a few seasons ago and were still young. Now they're like the Marlins
That's a bit of an overreaction. McCutchen was about to be a FA and they have an internal replacement with Austin Meadows. Cole was inconsistent over the last couple of years and they added some good pitching talent. Admittedly, it's frustrating for fans to see the dismantling, but to compare them to the Marlins is wrong. They could easily retool and be something soon.

Pirates were never going to get much for McCutchen. They're kidding themselves if they thought otherwise. Where they screwed up was in the Cole deal.

Pittsburgh's window of contention ended once they were surpassed by the Cubs anyhow.

So this is looking like a great trade for the Pirates. Reynolds looks legit, a possible star. Crick is serviceable.

Who knows if Cutch will ever be the same coming off a huge injury next season. Pirates made the best out of a tough situation.
