One thing Some of You are right about There will be a lot more drama in the NHL. I go back to an Original Six Team. The Boston Bruins. (Yes I'm that Old) I saw Bobby Orr as a Rookie. Sometimes You really have to ask just what is the NHL Business Model. How many Teams have come and gone over the years??? There are a lot of teams in trouble. Over the years I saw the NHL Put Teams where there shouldn't be teams. But they had the entrance fee to the NHL Alone. And Nothing else. (Calif. Golden Seals, Col Rockies,) They really got little help after that. Yes I know some will say AZ???? Well Miami???? If Baseball can't make it there. How is Hockey???? There will be Drama. There always is

Perhaps the above will help you understand.

Lot G can be parked in with a sth pass for $15.00 / game and lot J for $10.00 / game. The casual fan will be paying substantially more to park. Asking said casual fan to pay more than they would expect to pay downtown is not a good way to get them to come back. As you can see from the pricing map, they will be paying far more than the minimum that the lease requires.

Incidentally, this could easily backfire, the parking group that runs the UOP parking could undercut these prices for their location that is more convenient for much of the arena. This of course won't be much good for the COG.

I can only suggest that they are trying to balance the challenge of maintaining the loyalty of STH, with the requirement to charge a minimum. Why become a STH if you don't get a substantial discount on parking as one of the perks? They are going to have to decide quite early on whether they are better off going after casual fans or trying to build a much larger and more loyal STH base. I would think that to entice STH in that market, you will need to offer some good incentives, at least in the near term. One of the big challenges they face is making tickets scarce enough to let some supply and demand principles kick in. As long as it is just as easy and almost as cheap to saunter up to any game you want, why bother becoming a STH? You need to both entice and drive STH into their packages to get a large base. An alternative plan is to sell a large block of the ST to corporations, but that would seem to be a difficult ask given the location of the arena, etc.

Man, what this team needs is some decent ownership! :amazed:

At any rate, this is one of the revenue sources the city is using to fund the $15 million AMF. It's a big parking fee but it's a big hole that needs to be filled. And it likely doesn't even help operating earnings but rather just get passed to FIG.

The problem lies with the pricing to the casual fan. The $10 - $15 you mention is the rate for a full season pack that a sth would purchase. The casual fan will pay $15 - $30, all for the privilege of parking in a hard to get to, non congested area. It's higher than parking for NBA games downtown. When I was told by someone close to the team that these guys had some great marketing ideas, I naively thought it was to get people into the building, not to get more from the people who are interested in attending.

To the best of my recollection Season ticket sales have been up every year since this saga started. At least that's what has been posted here. Anyone remember a post were seat sales were down?

They dropped the first year.... almost in half as a reaction to the BK filing and Moyes sending out letters telling STHs their money could be history unless they sided with him.

The most significant increases were the past two seasons, after the team made the WCF.

I guess this the end.

I understand why you all might feel sad, but to me the end of these threads is good sign, I suppose. Take care everyone.

On the flip side, not paying for parking and comping tix hasn't worked either. Ask Ol' Jerry.

The comp tix was actually Doug Moss' baby.

The free parking concept belonged to Ellman to counter the expense people would pay in fuel to travel out to Glendale instead of downtown. As you should recall there was a parking fee already worked into the ticket price. That should have been added on to the ticket pricing used at AWA rather than having it cut further into what was an already relatively cheap ticket.

Like I said Ticket Sales are ahead of last Year At this Time. More Tickets, More Widgets

When I went to the Open House with Friends. They were buying Season Tickets I already have them. There were far fewer white sheet on the seats indicating open seats.

In all fairness.... I've been to several open houses in the past and they never put the info sheets on every unsold seat. They always held some off sections because of the different plans they introduce over time or for group sales.

I am glad to see that tickets are selling but only time will tell what the response will be.

And so it goes.

And now the end is here
And we face the final curtain
My friend I'll say it clear
I'll state my case of which I'm certain

This thread's lived a life that's full
It's traveled each and every highway
And more, much more than this
It took the long way

Twists It's had a few
Far too many to even mention
It did what It had to do
And saw it through without exemption

Each unplanned, uncharted course
Each misplaced step along the byway
And more, much more than this
It was presented by Am-Way

I'm just waiting on the end....

One last chance to remind y'all who came up with the first ever 'named' thread, "I'm just waiting on a judge"-- inspired by The Stones: :D

And no, I had NO idea we'd be here, this far out.

Any rich folks from outta state feeling down as the new season approaches and these Phx XX threads get unstickied are welcome to come on down to Glendale and catch some STILL reasonably priced (by rich NHL fan standards) NHL hockey games. As you've no doubt heard theres a-plenty o' good seats and parking available for five more years.

There is an astounding 4 non-hockey events booked at Jobing.com arena up until July 2014. Global Spectrum's impact has been huge so far! http://www.jobingarena.com/events.aspx?CalDate=2013-Aug-01 :sarcasm:

I put Glendale's arena's name into an image search and put in the myriad of names the Sunrise arena has held over the years into an image search engine as well. Sunrise? Loads and loads and loads of images from concerts over the years, including many very recently. Just from that alone, one can see they are a busy venue (befitting their 26th in the world in ticket sales rank from 2011 posted here or in another topic a while back, a Pollstar listing). In fact, more concert pics come up than hockey pics. Glendale? A fair number of concert pics come up dated to the mid-late '00s, but since then? Only a paltry number. There are loads of hockey pics though. Just based on the body of photos alone, it looks clear that since the NHL took over, Jobing.com went from a reasonably active multipurpose arena to an oversized refrigerator which hosts a few dozen hockey games a year. And the Greater Miami area could sustain 2 active arenas for concerts (that Pollstar listing had the Heat's arena as 22nd, so 22nd & 26th for Miami. They weren't cannibalizing each other that much) so it's not as if 2 arenas as such for the same metro arena is an instant recipe for failure.

Free parking at Westgate may cost Coyotes

To quote:

"A linchpin of the deal that kept the Phoenix Coyotes in Glendale was expected revenue from parking and other fees.

But the hockey franchise’s new parking plan depends partially on the far-fetched scenario that hockey fans will pay $10 to $30 to park in lots controlled by the team, rather than access free parking in adjacent lots — some of which are closer to the arena."
