Because it's 99. So it ends. The quest for C. Ends with "The Great One's" number.

The symmetry

With that... grieve away

"99 Problems"

If you're having revenue problems I feel bad for you son
I got 99 problems but a Lease ain't one

I got the rev patrol on the gov patrol
Foes that wanna make sure my agreement ain’t closed
Da’ critics that say he's "Money Cash Woes"
I'm in the hood stupid what type of facts are those
If you show up with holes in your wallets
You'll celebrate the minute I close
I'm like forget critics you can kiss my toes

If you don't like my dealins’ you can click ignore
Got beef with us if you don't like the show
If they don't fair well some’ll say we told you so
Hash tags run #Heretostay
So advertisers can give me more cash for ads...suckas
I don't know what you take me as
or understand the intelligence that we all has
I'm borrowin’ my riches sucka I ain't dumb
I got 99 problems but a Lease ain't one

Hit me

99 Problems but a Lease ain't one
If you having revenue problems I feel bad for you son
I got 99 problems but a Lease ain't one

Hit me

The year is '96 and the deal was raw
In the rear view mirror, 1430’s last they saw
Got two choices yall A-Z or Minny
Bounced to the desert when they left Winnie
Now I ain't trying to see no way to take this win
Plus I got a few dollars I can pitch in
So I...pulled out my Berry outside the door
And I heard "This is Gary, know why I’m calling you for?"

Cause I'm young and I'm back and my cash flow’s low
Do I look like a mind reader Gary, I don't know
Am I under budget or should I get some mo?
"I thought you was doing forty five, I need fifty more"
"Single digit kicks and Fortress so far"
And your 85 mills Gary, right you are
I ain't sweatin’ Darcy all our papers legit
"Do you mind if I look round the books a little bit?"

Well my finance department is locked, so are the books, circle back
And I know my rights so you gon' need a complaint for that
"Aren't you sharp as a tack are some type of lawyer or something?"
"Or somebody important or something?"
Nah I’m just an owner, but I know I’m right
Enough that you won't really win this fight
"We’ll see how smart you are when the Chap 11 comes"
I got 99 problems but a Lease one

Hit me

Now once upon a time not too long ago
A playa like myself had a ways to go
This out clause ain’t a sense of havin’ to be pushy
Even tho’ deal makes no God Damn sense, try and push me
I tried to ignore and talk to the Lord
Pray for me, cause some fools just love to perform
You know the type loud as a squeaky trike
But we’ll bust 50, 60 more like

Gary said “Something’s gonna happen†now i'mma get to clapping
Me and the boys gon' be rapping wit’ da captain
And I won’t get trapped in the kit kat again
Back through the courts with the riff raff again
Friends in the suite scratching again
Fanzie’s with their cameras snapping them

Ol’ man tried to give this deal the shaft again
Sigs well short, failed again
All because this deal was harrassin' them
Trying to play Council like we’re saccarin
But ain't nothing sweet 'bout how it’s run
I got 99 problems but being a Lease ain't one

Hit me

Just so you know

After conference, we decided to both keep the finalized thread limited to the actual RSE deal and direct the usual (as one put it) Sturm und Drang to the Megathread, which is this one.

We also wanted to let you all know that this will be thread the last - so people can have proper time to grieve and pay their respects.

Then we can finally put it out of our misery.

Finally...

And now the end is here
And we face the final curtain
My friend I'll say it clear
I'll state my case of which I'm certain

This thread's lived a life that's full
It's traveled each and every highway
And more, much more than this
It took the long way

Twists It's had a few
Far too many to even mention
It did what It had to do
And saw it through without exemption

Each unplanned, uncharted course
Each misplaced step along the byway
And more, much more than this
It was presented by Am-Way

Oliver Cromwell, Lord Protector of England Puritan
Born in 1599 and died in 1658 September

Pippin: I didn't think it would end this way.
Gandalf: End? No, the journey doesn't end here. New owners are just another path... One that the franchise must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass... And then you see it.
Pippin: What? Gandalf?... See what?
Gandalf: White shores... and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.
Pippin: [smiling] Well, that isn't so bad.
Gandalf: [softly] No... No it isn't.

Well, there's that.

Congrats to the Coyotes fans in Arizona. Now go to all 41+ games, get your local businesses involved, and support Glendale however you can, because this is your version of the Winnipeg Warning: slip up on one of those, and the Coyotes are on the first train to Parts Unknown come 2018.

Except that Bettman didn't lecture the Phoenix fans about filling the building like he did in Winnipeg in 2011 :sarcasm:

I guess he figured why bother - they won't listen anyway...

Gloating is part of victory. And lord knows these have been few and far between these last few years for Coyotes fans! I mean, if it had gone the other way the opposite side would be gloating right now.

Except that Bettman didn't lecture the Phoenix fans about filling the building like he did in Winnipeg in 2011 :sarcasm:

I guess he figured why bother - they won't listen anyway...

Or "Why bother? They've been given every excuse under the sun for half a decade."

I get there's still residual anger over the course of event in Winnipeg, both in 1996 and 2011. However, the whole world knows what needs to happen between now and the 2018 offseason:

-A full, uncomped building paying at least league average
-Every luxury box full for the entire length of the lease
-A healthy partner in the City of Glendale
-Sensible marketing strategies

Und so weiter.

I don't think the Coyotes fans here are under any delusions about their situation: 12,000 with a few empty boxes, ticket prices still at the bottom of the league, and/or a bankrupt city will end with the team gone, and how many more times can anyone or does anyone need to say it?

Phoenix XCVIX: "I Got 99 Problems, But A Lease Ain’t Oneâ€

:handclap:

And now it's proven that it's easier to own and NHL team in Phoenix than an AHL team in Thunder Bay.

QED.

look into that crystal ball of yours and tell me the powerball numbers too. I love all the people that can look into the future here.

Between the Pipes
This is just a reprieve of what will eventually happen to this franchise IMO.

Not saying the above to be spiteful, but I have yet to see anything that says this will turn around. It will be interesting to see what the new owners think they can do now, that the others before them, never did. The costs of running a franchise keep going up each year, so even with a $15MM gift, the cash crunch this franchise has to deal with, isn't going to go away.

The fans who have always been fans will continue to be; so there is no change there, other than it will cost more to go to games than before. The club might lose a few there if it becomes too pricy, but that will be minimal. No worry about the existing hockey fan.

The biggest problem facing the new owners will be getting new fans. And how do they do that? The new owners have an out clause, which by just existing will be a shadow over the franchise, which might keep new people from buying season tickets and the cost to going to a game will be higher than anytime in the last 17 years. Just don't seeing people buying in now that the price to do so will be higher.

And as someone else also says:

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-p...oves-sale-franchise-192414303.html#more-64764

It’s that damn out-clause. The one the team holds, although the city won’t. There are going to be thresholds to hit and success that needs to be maintained, and there are obviously mechanisms in place in which the city gets its losses covered if the team leaves.

But the fact is that it still can leave.

There may be no more threads on this, but it will be an interesting 5 years.

Does this 5 year out clause set a precedent for the future?

well here's a strategy:

"Anthony LeBlanc ‏@anthonydleblanc 19 Jul
And home game 2 will be the first time I cheer against the Ottawa Senators, my second fav team. Hint to snowbirds: #2favteams"

It will take a miracle for Glendale to still have a team 6 years from now, but I wish them all the best. The idea of growing hockey is at it's core a good idea and I hope it succeeds in Arizona.

Nah, it will take exactly what it took today: a large scale subsidy from Glendale.

That's probably why the gloating thing doesn't make much sense to me. Not that the relocationist agenda ever made much sense to me either.

Congrats, Phnx fans. Here's your chance.

I've been reading these threads over the past five years, and I really do hope I don't have to that again. If hockey succeeds in Glendale, it would be a humanitarian gesture.
