CoG: Do you expect me to negotiate?
Goldwater: No, I expect you to die.

Goldwater.
They're the group, the group with the right wing touch.
You tax too much.
Such cold water
They'll throw on your subsidies
If they please.

Golden suits they will file in the courts,
But your lies they can't hide from their torts.
For a desert city knows when they've kissed her,
It's the kiss of death from

Goldwater
CoG beware of their heart of gold
They're heart is cold.

Public funds can't be used, that's the rule,
Unless you are some baptist school.
If you're anti tax and health care reform,
Send your donations to

Goldwater
CoG beware of their heart of gold
These threads get old.

The road goes on and on right from the door where it began....

The Thread goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Thread has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with weary feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

The Thread goes ever on and on
Out from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Thread has gone,
Let others follow it who can!
Let them a journey new begin,
But I at last with weary feet
Will turn towards the lighted inn,
My evening-rest and sleep to meet.

this would be a perfect opportunity for bettman to pull the plug (if he wants to but i doubt he does).. he can come out and now say with the uncertainty of a potential public referendum Mr Jamison can no longer secure the needed investors (which he had lined up and were ready to buy the team if there wasnt any uncertainty or hurdles) and he has no choice but to look at alternatives and relocate the team ASAP since its nearly July.

NHL did everything they could... gave glendale a great potential owner in Jamison who had investors, a reasonable lease (compared to all the previous ones)... but GWI interference killed the deal by adding too much uncertainty.... this would be perfect spin for the NHL

Was there any mention as to when the second and third counts were set for hearing?

This is the question that we need answers for now. I read many times in the prior thread and in the court thread that, for example, the contempt complaint was left for Judge Anderson. When does it appear on his docket?

Thanks

If any of the other relief was going to be granted to invalidate any part of the ordinance, then ask yourself why the judge would ask for an order to clarify the ordinance by making sec. 7 invalid (or inoperable depending upon which phrase used by the judge in the same sentence). I think you can safely assume he will not invalidate the vote.

The contempt charge will be heard by Anderson. I think it is safe to assume he will also not invalidate the vote due to the failure of the CoG to comply with a court order, given another judge choose not to when looking at the vote on the merits and effectively concluding that the vote was otherwise valid. Sanctions against the CoG in the terms of $$$ to pay the GWI's attorney fees...yes. Invalidate the vote, IMHO, highly unlikely.

The only chance now for the vote to be invalidated is if the voters decide to refer the matter and the referendum is passed to declare the ordinance invalid. That is not a bad thing IMHO, from a philosophical standpoint. I think the voters should get a chance to vote on this kind of a deal. The problem is that timing of a public vote has never been something the NHL said they were prepared to accept with soft, unspoken deadlines pushing this train up hill.

Goyotes,
I am sorry if I left a wrong impression. Your answer to my post seemed to come from the assumption that I was expecting or hoping Judge Anderson would invalidate the vote. That is not my expectation or hope at all.

I simply see this all as great theatre. It's not my team at all. So, it really doesn't matter to me if GWI gets what it wants. I am simply more curious what Judge Anderson might rule toward CoG.

All that being said, I should acknowledge full disclosure. It is my opinion, have no dog or Coyote in the fight, that best end for this saga is QC. But, it really doesn't matter to me one way or the other. I don't live anywhere near Phx or QC.

I'm just curious how it is all going to turn out...

I was just attempting to answer what I thought the expected outcome will be when Anderson hears the contempt motion. It doesn't matter to me whether someone thinks the Coyotes should stay in Arizona or be relocated. For purely selfish reasons, I want them to stay, but I can see both sides of the coin.

With the BOG meeting today shouldnt they be approving the new owner if this moves forward to closure?

Just wanted to mention that jetsfan88 was right on the money so far... it's playing out exactly how he's been saying it would for months. I realize he's not the only one that predicted it, but his track record is impressive for sure.

yes, I think it just isnt happening as fast as everyone on both sides wants it too. That is why he was doubted.

He said it would take a while before it would get resolved. He said it could last until July. It certainly looks like that could be the case...

The NHL has got to pull the plug now unless they want to own the team for at least another 6 months.

The investors wont want to..... well..... invest in the Coyotes untill the referenum passed. So no sale untill then.

I'm telling you, if Gary Bettman is serious about the NHL not owning the team next season, he's got to sell the team to someone who'll relocate the team and take it of his hands NOW.

Technically, at this present moment, there is no referendum. Signatures need to be collected and I suspect verified as voters. Only at that time there will be a referendum.
