I'm in Philly for the weekend, don't usually care much for baseball but decided to randomly go to the Phillies game tonight... guess I picked a pretty good one to go to.

Not watching the game, but I got a bit concerned when I saw that Hellickson left due to injury. Luckily just a cramp.

Hopefully the bullpen doesn't blow this

I guess Pete isn't concerned for his job, because there is no way he can keep on trotting him out there. He is a dumbass if he thinks he can be the closer. He was terrible at the end of last year, this cant continue.

I'd imagine that the save totals mean a lot to him. But, this should have been a win for the Phillies. They did everything right versus a really good team.

They did everything right except bring in a closer who cant get anyone out. So not everything.

****ing unreal. Our bullpen is still as bad as last season.

Feel bad for Hellickson, did everything right today and we put up 3 against SS

This isn't true. Besides Gomez and Morgan, the bullpen looks decent.

Glad that Hernandez sealed it. This team looks very capable at getting on base. Hope it continues. I'd like to see Altherr get more playing time. Kendrick doesn't do anything for me as a starting LF

Besides actually hitting the ball ?

Probably not going to hit enough to make up for below average fielding. He should be an infielder or a bench player. Altherr is an exceptional fielder and offers much more power.

I don't think it's much better. Neris has to prove consistency but could be something good as a set up guy in the future. Neshek can't find the strike zone at times and only throws sidearm to throw hitters off. The only upgrade is an aging Benoit.

The bullpen has been an issue for a few years now.

I mean... Neris proved himself last season. Point is, the Phillies have more effective than ineffective relievers. With the depth of MLB ready pitching in the high minors, the bullpen shouldn't really be a problem

Don't get me wrong, I like Neris and I think he can be a piece in the future like the 7th/8th inning guy. We just need a solid closer and another set up man.

Maybe I'm being harsh but when I live inside the O's territory I get very jealous of their Givens, O'Day, Brach, and Britton set ups lol.

You can't have too many reliable relievers but I'm comfortable with Neris as the primary setup guy. He deserves a chance to close as much as anybody on the roster right now but I think Benoit will get a chance first.

Gomez is miscast as the closer but hopefully he'll settle into a middle relief role. Morgan will probably find himself in AAA soon, maybe in another organization. Benoit and Ramos should be fine. The wildcard is Joely Rodriguez because he has the arm to be a valuable piece but he still needs to show he can succeed at the highest level.
