And only 20 goals.

Oh well.

Maybe one day, he'll break 25 goals and 55 points.

For 5.5 million.......he better.
You do realize that the 20 goals leads the team, right? And the 51 points in 2nd on the team?

They are a balanced scoring team now instead of 1-2 guys way above the others.

But hey, sorry we can't compete with all the Leafs great scorers. They must be way ahead in the standings....

Speaking of the Leafs and RFA comparables. What makes the Konecny 5.5 x 6 year signing even better, it was signed only 2 days after Marner's 10.9 x 6 years signing. This is remarkable negotiations and timing by Flyers management, to have a player commit to a team friendly deal like this one in light of a recent market resetting contract. Big win by the Flyers here.

just what I was hoping for when I opened a thread about Konecny - a bunch of posters replying to Leaf trolls trying to dunk on thw Leafs organization.

If there’s one thing we don’t have enough of on here, it’s threads that go down that path.

Side note - Philly has to have one of the most balanced forward cores in the league. Seems like every player is a two way type.

This is the difference between Flyer Fan and Leaf fan. Leaf fan looks at sheer raw stats and say Marner is better than Konecky and Tavaras is better than Couturier. Flyer fan include the contracts signed and cap space and rightly conclude Konecky is more valuable than Marner and Couturier is most valuable then Tavaras.

So we agree that Flyers fans are dumb?

If your gm continues to think Tavaras at 10.5m is more valuable than couts at 4.33 million, and Marner is more valuable than TK then you will continue to lose in playoffs. You will continue to make those blockbuster 4th line for 4th line player transactions and think how brilliant Dubas is.Go on netflix and watch Moneyball you might learn something.

Couturier is a better player than Tavares, full stop, regardless of salaries. The fact his cap hit is less than half of Tavares' makes him one of the most valuable players/contracts in the league. But it's an unfair comparison since Couturier signed as a RFA before he really broke out while Tavares was the best UFA to hit the open market in the last 15 years.

Agreed 100% Couts is better. Tell a Leaf fan this and they will look at stats and say 47 goals last year and ignore defense. But if you include salary it is not remotely close who the better asset is. The difference is it allowed the Flyers to overpay for Kevin Hayes in cap space and that contract is looking better and better the way he is playing this year. And until Dubas takes one of Marner, Nylander or Tavaras and makes a hard gutsy trade to get multiple assets THEY WILL NEVER GET OUT OF THE DIVISION PLAYOFFS.

Not blaming it all on him but it's interesting that the Islanders were a tire fire defensively when Tavares was there and now the Leafs are the same way. No one player could be fully responsible for that of course but when you're the #1 center getting 20+ minutes a game you probably do bear some responsibility. I guarantee if he was a Russian named Ivan Tavarasov or something this stuff wouldn't be getting glossed over.
