Someone tell Chuck there's a salary cap.

Appears to be trying to make all his deadline deals before the deadline.

While it's true, the Flyers are already 1.3 million over the cap according to spotrac (before the Brassard signing).

Yea, but you will still have X amount of players on your roster. He is almost certain to take the roster spot of a guy who would make more. If they need to bury him in the AHL then his contract is just about completely off their cap.

His 9th NHL team (7th in the Eastern Conference, 5th in the Metropolitan Division).
Will be turning 34-years-old soon. If he keeps producing at a respectable rate, he could easily hold 2nd place in NHL history with 11 teams played. Or even tie Sillinger's 12.

How the Rags traded him and a seventh for Zib and a second round pick back was quite the heist..
And some NYR fans were upset over that... There was a point where the team was so bad on paper that any bright spot became a fan favorite for some.

Probably for depth incase Hayes isn't ready to go come October. If I were Hayes i'd contemplate taking the season off.

Played for AV in New York. Is he their 4th C now or is he likely to play wing?

He could honestly end up as high as 3C depending on how things work out at training camp.

Right now they have Giroux, Couturier, Hayes, Brassard, Thompson, Laughton, and Frost as guys that could play center. But they prefer Giroux and, to a lesser extent, Laughton at wing, and Frost will have to blow people's socks off at camp to make the squad it looks like. The Flyers just have a ton of forwards, though...they sure as hell can't complain about depth there. Will be interesting to see what the roster looks like.
