He's an AHL player if I've ever seen one. A no skill guy who plays hard. He could be called up and potentially make a nice impression; but over the course of the season I still think craig adams is a better player to have on the team mainly for the PK. I agree 5v5 he's terrible.

I generally just don't like when people talk about ahl guys as facts that they'd come up here and be better than 'insert whipping boy'.

The few times I've seen him play, he's clearly Gary Rissling's offspring. If he came up, the fans would love him, regardless of his effectiveness.

In my defense, it's not that hard to be better than Adams (who's the worst player on the team), and that's all he has to do. He doesn't need to have any skill. The things he's good at like cycling the puck, being a master **** stirrer, and somebody who looks to run over people on the forecheck are what would make having him better than having Adams. The world will still turn without Adams on the PK. I doubt they'd even miss a beat. He's not some PK God that we will never be able to replace.

Few lingering thoughts:

1) Took an act of God, but Crosby has two new wingers. Never thought I'd see that day.

2) How many games has it been since Despres has put the Pens shorthanded? Been a while, and his play is only getting better (IMO)

3) Love Maata, but his skating still scares me. Lacks the acceleration to catch up to plays.

4) Team is back to getting lost in the defensive zone. They had it ironed out for a 2-week stretch, back to looking lost.

5) Not in love with Martin - Letang.

6) I think the past two nights have shown that Bennett doesn't HAVE to be on Sutter's line. Sutter's hot and cold streaks are on Sutter, not his linemates (but linemates matter, of course).

7) I need Steve Downie to provide something a bit more tangible than just PK opportunities.

8) Regarding Sill: it's okay to have an opinion, watch things play out, and adjust your opinion. Dan Bylsma is jobless because he refused to do this. I have never been a huge Sill fan, but I don't think less of those who were/are. It didn't work out. It happens.

Nice to get the win last night, but i didn't really like the pens even strength game last night.

Besides Sid and Horny i didn't really see the pens create that much, i was expecting the pens to play a little bit better when you look at all the players Boston has out its lineup right now.

No he's not. I've been hating on adams for years. On LGP forum I had a thread probably 4-5 years ago questioning why he got 12 minutes of ice time per game. I got lambasted for it because the honeymoon didnt wear off yet.

So believe me I understand where you're coming from. But e has to remain on the roster; can't get rid of his cap. Might as well play him so we don't injure anyone else on the PK. Sure sid and a few others can kill penalties; doesnt mean its a good idea, when we're as fragile as we are.

At this point adams and scuds are PK specialists... adams is getting less and less amount of shifts 5v5 which is a good thing. When we make a trade i'm in favor of him being the 13th foward and leaving megna in the lineup. If it's not megna though I dont think anyone from wbs should be playing ahead of adams.

This post makes no sense.

Megna played in WBS. How can he be better than Adams, let alone ever learn how kill penalties in the NHL?

How awful is it from a cap management perspective that we have $4M+ worth of "PK specialists" (which I think is a generous stretch) and Blake Comeau and Nick Spaling flanking Malkin and Crosby?

Still a better use of bandwidth than 95% of the posts here.

To be fair, HSL wins. He had me going quite a few times before I caught on. The key to HFBoards is to pretend it's all taking place in your mind, none of it is real.

So, it's one of Sid's secondary assists? :sarcasm:

Actually wasn't intending to quote you on that one, sorry?

Oh man these old quotes are fun. :naughty:

I wouldn't even normally be opposed to trying farnham, but I just love how this board thinks its so obvious he's much better than adams. Just like sill. I think farnham sucks, but in a pinch it might be worth a shot. I completely understand why they don't try it though; while the board consensus is to just bash away as if they know everything.

I'll acknowledge that I can't guarantee Bobby Farnham would be, overall, a net positive over Adams right now. He might be, but I'm not 100% on that.

What I'm reasonably sure of is that he would do more for us than Sill did.

It's really bad, really, really bad. Scuderi can be replaced with a much cheaper and more effective option and they don't need Captain PK at all, even if people want to pretend his PKing makes up for everything else and is impressive. Yet here we are, both don't get scratched and Johnston hasn't realized Scuderi should never be in an offensive situation or have to touch the puck.

I'll beg for Downie in the top 6 at this point.

In fairness, my primary beef with Scuderi this season is his cap hit and not his play. He's been a solid if unspectacular defensive dman and below average in the offensive zone. That's on par with what you can expect from Scuds at his best.

His cap hit, however, is abysmal, and the fact that we have at least two guys capable of stepping into his shoes for literally 1/4 of the salary is also alarming.

Adams has also been acceptable this season. I think he's outplayed Sill thus far. Would be curious to see Farnham on the big club. I know lots of people think he will immediately bring more than Adams.

Bennett isn't at practice today. Injury maybe? I really hope not.

I was fine, cap hit aside, until he had the game without Despres. I was done after that because that **** was revealing and a reminder, and he still shouldn't have the puck. I hate whenever he gets the puck so much.

Cap hit and a position of depth makes it ugly, especially when our cap situation gets looked at.

I thought Adams was fine in the first handful of games but he's slowed down since then. Adams is looking a lot more like Adams with the slowness and horrible hands and the never getting off the ice when he should. Sill has been a huge disappointment, at least look like you're fighting for a spot.

#Pens lines at practice mostly the same as last game. Megna moving in to Bennett’s slot on the third line and Sill filling in for Megna.

This was to be expected with Bennett, but this is a big chance for Megna. Give me another WBS player getting a cup of coffee over Sill.

bennett will probably sit for a game. if it was serious he wouldn't have come back out for three more shifts last night

I think (hope) it's precautionary. He did skate after the injury last night. That knee did bend really well but the fact that he came out and played suggests that the injury wasn't too serious.

Regardless, Megna will be a great player to have on the third line with Sutter and Downie. His hockey sense has really improved.

A chance for Megna but its a curtain call for Sill. He better do something impressive. I'm expecting him to drop the gloves. At least go out with a fight so to speak.
