Seider will play first PK on the right side. He is our best PKer.
Seider will have a long learning process to become even a half-effective PK guy. +10 goals/60 on PK are abysmal numbers versus the league.
Those numbers were 6th worst at NHL, od all those 1st pair starting PK guys. And our power-play wasn't 6th worst, it was 18th, and Seider was the weakest link there, espcially with Walman. This can clearly be seen from statistics.
There was no improvement for his rookie season. It was even worse PK in general, but when the PK did get improve for 2022-23, it was still Seider as the weakest link. He has lot to learn. He is not a holy cow. It was same for Team Germany at WHC, and something he has to learn by time.
Maybe Holl is the good partner to mentor him. He comes from a stronger Leafs power-play with better numbers than any of our last season guys left.
Holl and Brodie were the starting pair, meeting toughest assignments.
Holl is clear upgrade versus any of our guys, especially how Walman and Seider sucked statistically on the PK. Määttä got some easier assignments, think Chiarot-Holl could the 1st PK pair.
Think our 1st PK will be much better, when adding some specialists there, like Fischer and Holl. Don't have to keep any better players there to block shots and getting arms broken and legs getting bruises.
All Seiders and Larkins should maximize their ice-time at ES and PP.
1st PK
Copp - Fischer
Chiarot - Holl
2nd PK
Ras - Compher
Määttä - Seider
5th forward
Larkin
(Veleno)
So far the looks pretty much like this. Veleno was the worst PK forward, but got 6th most PK IT of these guys we have.
There was a reason why Yzerman signed Justin Holl. He knows the weakness, and likes to improve our Defencemen at PK. Holl will improve it more than Fischer as a forward. Also full healthy Copp could make a difference, because on some stats, a year ago, he was shown as the best PK guy at NHL.
