Anyone know when he is coming back? I thought they said he would be back late last week.

His return isn't as dire of a need as it appeared for a good bit there. Both Reimer and Ned have played well enough to let Mrazek take all the time he needs to heal up.

Disclaimer: This all becomes null and void the next time either of our current goalies give up a soft goal

If they’re committed to Mrazek for next year (and he proves he can still be the “starter” of a tandem), then this injury might be a blessing in disguise.

How else would the team have given Nedeljkovic so many starts?

And

It might help keep down Mrázek’s ask on his next potential deal.

If Ned is the backup next year (that would be my assumption given his play and contract) I wonder if they look at other options from the UFA market? I already brought up Driedger as a guy that might be an option as I find it hard to believe Florida is in a position to resign him given their spending on goalies already and their prospects that are in the wings. Another guy that has had sneaky good numbers that will be UFA this summer that I can't see going back to his current team if there are any options, is Linus Ullmark from Buffalo. His numbers behind that tire fire are pretty good over the last two years. He has prototypical goalie size and could be relatively cheap compared to your standard UFA goalies.

I wonder why when Jordan Binnington was 25 years old he had been considered a bust for years and then "shed" that notion of a bust.

Whereas with Ned at 25 years old I just think of him as having taken a normal development path.

Maybe because he didn't have quite the false start Binnington did earlier in his career? I don't know.

Isn't it finally getting an opportunity to shine due to unforeseen circumstances or a trade to another team like so many other prospects in our system?

I remember John Forslund discussing how he felt that Ned should have had more of a shot last season. And, when it didn't happen, he had a little slump for a bit when he was first sent back to the Checkers before getting back on track.

As brought up elsewhere though, we truly don't know if he's Binnington, Hammond, or somewhere in between. It will be a while before we do. With where our team is, if we do have him as one of the two options next year, I would want a really proven option to go along with him. At that point, I'd want someone better than even what Mrazek has proven to be. But, that can be really hard to find as we've seen for years and years and years.

Upside, Ken Dryden. Downside, Scott Darling.

Let's see where he lands.
