Giroux's going to be fine. Just stop worrying and give it time.

Scott Hartnell ($4.750m) / Vincent Lecavalier ($4.500m) / Claude Giroux ($8.275m)
Matt Read ($3.625m) / Sean Couturier ($1.750m) / Jakub Voracek ($4.250m)
Maxime Talbot ($1.750m) / Brayden Schenn ($0.851m) / Wayne Simmonds ($3.975m)
Jay Rosehill ($0.675m) / Adam Hall ($0.600m) / Zac Rinaldo ($0.750m)

Return of the RW Giroux?

These lines though, you got to admit are pretty damn awesome and almost guarantee scoring and Sean to blossom beautifully.

Alt. you could switch Giroux and Vinny but I would like to see if this could work first.

It would be easier just to switch Simmonds and Voracek.

And bury Rosehll's dumb ass on the bench and let Newbury play.

Giroux is one of the leagues best face off men. Unless he takes the faceoff and then goes to play wing for the duration of the shift

BTW. just looked it up, I thought we were doing so much better in FOs. This year 48.4% (26th), last year 48.5%.

What gives?

Why could Couts be playing 2nd line C and Schenn 3C?

Vinny's struggled on the dot so far. But Couturier is much better which is encouraging.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/playerstats....=faceOffWinPctg&viewName=faceOffPercentageAll

From watching Couts for maybe five games in the Q he was pretty beastly on the dot at that level, and as a new centre in the NHL players usually improve between about 7-12% on the dot from their first season to their 4th or 5th. So hopefully the extra muscle he put on, and extra faceoff 'IQ' he has built up over the last two years mean he can do so in the NHL as well.

I disagree

Vinny's line all had negative Corsi. Jake was a brutal -8. Couts was +5 in a game where not many guys were positive. He blew away everyone. Max was also a +2, tied for 2nd best.

If Buffalo decides to go full on tank, would you guys be interested in Ehrhoff? To steer clear of advanced stats, he is the only plus player on the Sabres despite playing 25 minutes a game.

Off the top of my head his caphit isn't too bad & isn't a +35 contract but he's still signed for like 8 more years.

I think they'll try to trade Myers at some point over the next year. They have a good amount of young defenders now & I don't think he's going to get much better there. I would be somewhat interested in him to be honest & more so than Ernhoff.

Would definitely like Ehrhoff on the Flyers. Just don't think I'd like the price it would cost.

Offensively speaking, and staying with the Sabers, what about Ennis? Or Stafford? I'd say Vanek too, but his contract situation would obviously be tricky.

Ehrhoff does have eight more years left including this one, but if he retired early the Flyers would not be on the hook for any of the recapture penalties. Basically we would get the positives of a cap circumventing deal without having to worry about the downsides.

Think Buffalo would take Meszaros back as an expiring contract just to move Ehrhoff?

While my Modus Operandi for this season is "Screw it, panic over everything," this is correct. Giroux is one guy I'm not worried about. He'll be good once he loosens up and the team settles in a bit.

A stat that doesn't really measure anything BUT MEASURES EVERYTHING.

No, that's Fenwick Close.

If Berube is changing the system, that takes time. Which is why Lavy should have been replaced in the summer, because this is what preseason is for. Now, they started slow, the Flyers look like a joke in doing it, and they're going to give away more points for what may only be moderate-at-best improvement to what they would have already been.
