I just get the feeling this guy is either going to be a folk hero in Pittsburgh or a complete bust.

I'm sure that he'll struggle a little bit to adapt to the new league and immediately be labeled a bust. If he can escape that narrative once it exists remains to be seen.

Honestly, even if he's not a legitimate top six winger, he should be given a long look on the 2nd line with Geno and Kessel. All we really need is for him to be a big body, go after loose pucks and get the puck to Geno or Kessel. It doesn't even really matter who the other guy is on that line, so long as it's not like MacIntyre or Adams.

Does he count as 925k or the amount plus bonuses against the cap?
$925k is the base salary/cap hit. If he were to hit every single one of his bonuses, he would actually cost roughly $3.8M.

Very unlikely to happen, but if he somehow had a huge year, the Pens could be hit with a hefty bonus overage against their cap for 2016-17.

Has it changed in the latest cba? I swear rookies used to count as the maximum including bonuses...

I'm hoping for a Leo Komarov that fights rather than another Hornqvist, I think the former is fairly realistic.

All things considered he's more likely to be an analog of Komarov than Hornqvist but he's pretty much an unknown until he starts playing here / trying to mesh into our system. He won't be the same player he was in the KHL (more of a go-to guy there I'm guessing) because he won't be asked to perform the same roles most likely. So it will be interesting.

I for one will give him every chance to make me a Platinumski... I mean Platonicovksi fan.

There were a few seasons where that was true, yes. That's how it worked in the final year of a CBA or if the sides had an option to opt out of the CBA the following year. It basically just closed a loophole so teams couldn't abuse bonuses in case the rules changed in a new agreement.

Yeah. An example of this in usual practice is Boston having a ton of dead cap space last year from giving Jarome Iginla an incentive-laden contract in 2013-14.

Since there are no recent compilations, and I don't know how to make them, you can do what I do. I compiled the dates of his goal scoring games and multiple assist games from the last two years

Go to youtube, search the date of the game and the Russian word for Lokomotiv. I did 2 random games and they are there.

Check this example out "28.02.2014 Локомотив"

Plotnikov kills a guy on the forecheck, walks in front and sets up a near goal with a deft backhand pass.

I don't know what he is, but I'll take another Kulemin. He also looks like a RW.
