Since Feb 1
Jake - 31 GP - 15 G
Sid - 31 GP - 12 G
McCann - 31 GP - 11 G
Bjugstad - 31 GP - 8 G
Malkin - 17 GP - 7 G
Teddy - 21 GP - 6 G
Kessel - 31 GP - 6 G
Rust - 22 GP - 6 G

That is 7 of our forwards on pace for 20 Gs or more in an 82 game season.
You were referencing how much better we looked with those guys back. And I was referencing that same time frame as to how abysmal we were at scoring without them. Why are you moving the goal posts?

Because when you play players above their roles it effects their production. We have great depth unlike last year when it was the idea of great depth.

Caps have Oshie. He scares me more than any other player in the playoffs.

playoff oshie is no joke.

Him hovering in the slot on the PP is terrifying.

Hits, skates hard, has all the skill, great shot.

He's Like a wayyyyy better version of Patric Hornqvist.

I agree with your premise that losing such key cogs will hurt our offensive output (obviously). My contention here is that it shouldn't be that severe or that profound of a drop off. That to me is concerning. Crosby had what two points in eight games? That's not even close to reasonable production for a player of his caliber at this time of year. And it's not that he hasn't played well in other facets of the game, he has. But we need more production. And that goes for every other key player who went cold.

This will be an interesting post game analysis because i have not read a single thing about the game.

++++ Murray: My #1 star of the night. I thought he was a stud. Absolute stud. He was the reason we won, IMO. That was the most Matty Ice game i've ever seen.

++++ Sid/Kessel/Geno/Letang: All the main stars were stars. There were some areas of improvement for Sid/Geno, but I loved how they all worked. Hell just seeing Letang on the ice is solid.

Kessel especially. I counted 5 individual times he came back and helped on defense and stopped grade A scoring chances. FIVE. Phil Kessel. FIVE. That is insane. Great game by Phil and not even for his points.

++++ Bertuzzi: Weird Up here but I noticed he was specifically soft on Letang multiple times where he could have lined him up. That guy usually doesn't take those chances lightly. I thought he was playing safe to Letang. Maybe i'm making it up but I specifically noticed it in the 3rd period. I've seen that dude run wild before. Whatever made him slow down tonight, I'm thankful for it. He could have run Letang a couple times and didn't.

++ I loved Rusty/McCann. I loved Bjugs. Simon is an up/down for me. I just really liked how the boys played.

- Maatta: This is my only down. I don't think he's good and he's slower than ever.
not following in Todd Bertuzzi’s foot steps

Hornqvist has 1 more goal in three more playoff games. Also double the amount of playoff ES goals.

Your using his blues stats.

That's in the past not recent like Oshies stats on the Caps.

Last 3 playoffs

Oshie, 43 Points in 49 games

Hornqvist, 33 points in 53 games.

As of now, Oshie is waaaay better than Hornqvist.

Oshie is also better than Kessel.

Hornqvist and Kessel are both better ES players in the playoffs than Oshie.

Love Oshie, but he lives off the powerplay. 10 of his 18 goals in the last three years are off the PP.

Who...cares?

Oshie gets the same amount of PP time as Hornqvist and Kessel...so...

Oshie has better 5v5 stats than both in the playoffs.

So hes better than Hornqvist at 5v5 AND on the PP(oshies not better than Kessel on the PP but better overall as a player at 5v5 easily)

You forget someone?

Just hope no games got to OT. Oshie or Hags will bury the Pens.

Hornqvist has 16 ES goals to Oshie’s 8 in the last three years..?

Points are basically a tie with Oshie playing 4 less games.

Add in him being way better on the PP and its not close to who is better. Plus, he can actually create with the puck.

Not really. Caps have gotten put on a pedestal because Kuznetsov had a hell of a playoffs. Let’s see if he can repeat it. If not that team ain’t going anywhere.

He's really the key for them.
They've always had good play from Backstrom and Ovie.
Was always about that other top C.

13 years is a long ass time. How was that Ottawa series 13 years ago already **** me.
That was a hell of a time. So clearly the dawning of a bright new era that I wasn’t even mad getting dumped out by the Sens that year. I never dreamed that there would be four finals and three cup parades still to come after that. Hopefully more

I thought it didn't necessarily show on the state sheet but Rust did a really nice job creating space for Malkin and Kessel tonight. I think that line could really work for the playoffs. You have the Jake-Crosby-McCann buzz saw...and if Rust and Kessel work for Malkin that leaves Horny-Bjugs-Simon/Blueger for the third and I really like that depth especially given the ridiculous amount of chances that Bjugs/Horny combo keeps generating nightly.

And God forbid I forget to mention how big of an impact Letang has 5v5. He controls play almost as much as Crosby. It's ridiculous watching him skate the puck out of danger, create chances, and then recover to break up chances when he makes a bad decision. What an athlete.

+Finally clinched the playoffs so Saturday isn't a must-win.

+Sid busted out of his scoring slump.

+Murray. Although he did let in a goal that Josh Yohe may or may not think is an issue.

Just get one more point on Saturday so they finish in 3rd and don't have to play the Caps in Round 1.

Forget the injuries. Caps beat us along the walls at both ends and they clogged up the NZ in transition last season. That's how they won.

Bjugstad and Gudbranson with healthy top-end players gives us the upper hand if Sully plays his cards right.

And we would all be dumb to forget that Sidney Crosby is chasing some top-5 playoff-scoring-history right now with a decent run. He's going to be motivated.
