I do question a bit reuniting a team that wasn't actually good enough to win the cup... but if Chevy doesn't think we can attract UFA and this doesn't block Copp's future then I can handle the overpay

I'm a bit surprised at this. It was looking to me that, other than Brossoit, we wouldn't be resigning most, if not all of our UFA's. I figured Chevy would want to free up some cap space to resign Copp, Pionk and maybe make a bid for a defenseman.
But I like Stats a lot and am happy with this. He obviously likes it here. I think he could have gotten more on the open market.

Have to say after last year I wasn't really on board for him coming back especially for 4m plus an term, I can live with this for some stability in the room but his minutes have to come down a bit, might signal a trade with Copp.

I'd be okay if we brought back last year's 4th line entirely, as long as their combined hit didn't go above $3 million. They probably want to ease Gustafsson and Harkins in, so that means Thompson's probably not coming back.
