Ok ill bite. who are 2 and 3? I can see an argument for 1.

you really shouldn't have lol

Haven't read it yet, but I can't see the reply going well. I'll argue all day the people claiming he's better than Matthews, but will also defend his #2 position. No way I'd take any of the others ahead of him

Wouldn’t trade Matthews for anyone on the Jets

never said I wanted Matthews.

but we could flip him to Arizona for players that more suit our style.

but marner with some major adds may get you laine

if you watch the type of games that the jets play against teams in the central, you would realize there is no-one with awesome nostrils and the ringettes that would cut it over here.

Wouldn't move Marner for Laine, definitely have more faith in Marner as a line driver, his defensive game and I believe he'll score more points going forward than pp specialist Laine.

Marner is better than Laine right now. Why would Leafs add a 1st on top of that??
They already have Matthews and Tavares to score goals, they need Marner to set them up.

Marner is better than Laine? in what world?

Laine is a yr younger, and comparing each seasons pts, he crushes Marner. He also scores goals, the objective of the sport, at a near league leading rate.

No wonder Leafs fans get ripped apart.

The thing with pure shooters like Laine, you’re only as good as your play makers. Marner effects the game more consistently and is a perfect fit in Toronto. I would say laine is a much more rare type of player, capable of scoring 40-50 goals a year if paired with an elite playmaker. Laine just doesn’t create offence for himself, but can score from anywhere in the ozone with that shot.

The reply actually wasn’t horrible. Although I personally disagree with it, I could see McAvoy and Dubois developing into players that are in the same conversation as Laine just because 1c and 1d + 200 foot game factors. That being said, I think Laine will get even better and it won’t be a long conversation

stop. guess Matthews is only as good as his teammates and we shoul trade him since hes a shooter 1st 2nd and 3rd.

Matthews creates his own offence and doesn’t rely on other line mates, he’s a driver. Laine depends fully on his line mates getting him the puck, which is why he isn’t producing since little isn’t a good playmaker. Laine is lethal when paired with a good center, but borderline irrelevant without one.

A shining example of Leafs homerism.:laugh:

I don't know...

Mitch does a LOT of things that imprint on a game, and affect the outcome. Don't get me wrong, he won't shoot it like Laine, but he is very much the better overall player right now.

I wouldn't make that trade either.

Cool. Two Leafs homers.

Really?

I am being honest, you really think Mitch doesn't control the game more?

I am not comparing one timers here, he skates better, edges better, passes better, enters the zone better, drives his line better... I mean how could anybody argue that?

Both are young and will of course get better, but as of right now, I don't see many GM's thinking otherwise.

Also, I have always loved and defended Laine, so this is not a dislike thing,.

Must be a Jets fan. Since when does Laine Pts total CRUSH marners lol. Great argument there
Laine plays and has played with top line talent.
Marner played with 3rd-4th line guys, averaging like
13-16mins a game. Past 1/2yr hes played with top talent and look at him now

this might be a smart idea for the jets.

they could get a massive haul for what might be a fatally flawed but soon to be super expensive player.

Laine with Hyman and Tavares would be better than Matthews line.
