I still think Bergy skates really well, but I've always thought the Jones hit really changed some things with what his ceiling could have been. Obviously not a shocker considering how horrible the concussion was. That hit doesn't happen, injuries aside I think he'd have 100-200 more points

He definitely was a more smooth skater as a 20 year old but he was still scoring off the rush in 2013/14 and 2015/16 when he scored 30. I don't have it broken down like above, but these are the raw totals:

This was his age 30 season? Clearly he's changing his game to still be effective. I'm all for it. He doesn't seem to be slowing down to me.

That was when he was 28 and 30, those two 30-goal seasons. I just looked at all seasons that he scored 30 goals as they were all between 30-32 goals.

Bergeron 3G 6A 9P

his game logs post round 1 vs Toronto where he and the 1st line went nuts And had a combined 30 points in the series with a lot of that coming 5on5....since that series in 2018 I haven’t noticed him much besides for the PP in the playoffs

Other guys during that time frame

DeBrusk 7G 4A 11P
Krejci 5G 13A 18P
Pastrnak 8G 9A 17 P
Marchand 9G 9A 18 P
Coyle 8G 5A 13P

Bergeron has basically become a power play specialist for the last few playoff series

really concerned about him he has not looked good against Carolina at all if Mrazek didn’t forget where the net is in OT Bergeron would have pretty much given us nothing this series

Kind of a strange way to approach an analysis. "Let's take that series where he was really good and toss it out, then measure from there."

There must be a flaming hot take in here that I'm not seeing lol.

He has a 2OT goal. That's pretty big.

Do I wish he had more goals? Sure, why not.

It's Bergeron, I'm not worried about his production.

Everything is up to speed with him but his hands. I wonder if it's a mix of rust and ice conditions for him that he's struggling with. He's still dominating possession when he's on and controlling the game, but he's shanking a LOT of shots. 25 of his 47 shot attempts are on net, and only 5 of those were blocked. So of overall shot attempts these 7 games, 2.1% have gone in, 53.2% are on net, 10.6% are blocked, and 36.2% miss the net. In the regular season, 9.5% of his shot attempts went in, 62.3% were on net, 17.8% were blocked, and 19.9% missed the net.

You could see it at the end of the 2nd, you could tell he was just trying to focus on getting it on net with the very little wind-up at all, the first shot attempt is maybe the least dangerous bumper one-timer you'll ever see from him:

hopefully his hands come in round 2. because marshy has been puttimg them on a plate for him.
If ice conditions are playing a role that should improve. If Bruins advance to Round 2, they won't have to go on after another team on the same ice sheet in the same day, and there will be way more time for ice maintenance. Past that, Edmonton's ice conditions clearly look better than Toronto.

Bergeron is literally a god to me. Favourite athlete of all time (which is saying something trust me). I don't think it's unfair to be a little concerned with him. I've watched almost every minute of this man's career as I'm sure others on here have to. Last nights game was not good by his standards. He is still doing his thing in terms of being responsible and always seems in position, but he is losing puck battles, shanking shots, some being high caliber scoring chances. Offensively he just seems off. Still comes up big when we need him most (2ot gwg), but I'm definitely a little concerned. He was on pace in regular season to put up the most goals in a season in his hall of fame career so I don't think from March to August he just lost his scoring touch... seems to concentrate so hard on D in playoffs that maybe the O takes a back seat. Not sure, just want him back to himself.

I think this is pretty unfair... his linemates have good numbers and I'm sure he was instrumental in winning draws and other things that lead to those goals but just didn't get credited with an assist because a defender factored in from time to time. It's never been solely about the numbers with Bergeron. He's still fantastic defensively, in the dot and allowing his linemates to run a muck. With that being said he hasn't looked great this series for sure and I'm assuming he's banged up a bit.
