Perhaps a passing of the torch from the best two-way forward of a generation (Bergeron) to the next one O'Reilly?

People are complaining and right to do so.
DK dod not play like a second line center... Bergeron injuries excuses...Rask etc..
When you look at these players cap $, their season’s number, playoffs career numbers, 3 SC finals in 9 years, 3 rd in the season last year...and players playing hurt year in and out, how can some not see what they have . In today cap hell, Skinner got 8 M for how much year 6 if i am ok. At Bergeron, Marchand numbers you will never again see these quality of players at those numbers for soooo long And this core will pass away, i hope i am wrong, but we might not see what we were cheering for and how lucky we were....when this era will be finish...

A reminder that people were trashing Bergeron in the Chicago series and saying he was done and washed up. Then after game 6 they rush him to the hospital:

"Bergeron played through a daunting list of injuries all the way through the Stanley Cup Final, as the center was dealing with a rib injury that included a cartilage tear, a punctured lung and a separated shoulder he suffered in Game 6 of the Cup Final. The injuries landed Bergeron in a Chicago hospital following Game 5, and he went to a Boston hospital after the Final concluded with the Bruins’ Game 6 loss."

Now it's being leaked that he has been playing through a groin injury for most of the playoffs.

This man has given everything for this team, his teammates, and us the fans.

He DESERVES more respect than "He's done and washed up" or even "get rid of him and rebuild"

Sounds like the same people who said "good move" after trading Orr to Chicago.

death, taxes and Bergeron hurt in the playoffs.

always nice to have that ready made excuse lined up to avoid any legitimate heat/blame for losing.

and if Bergeron is really that hurt, Cassidy needs to get him off the damn 1st line instead of killing the team.

It’s not Bergeron’s fault he was injured, it was Cassidy’s fault for playing him on the first line when he knew Bergeron was hurt.

Yep.

I do have on concern though. He is always hurt in the playoffs now. The team needs to do something about limiting him in the regular season. We need Bergeron in May and June, not January.

He's had groin injuries the last couple years, and two surgeries. Maybe they should dial back on his faceoffs throughout the year. I'd think those would constantly aggravate a groin injury, especially since he fights to the death on them.

Isn't he always injured when it counts?

Sucks. But, if he was that injured, it's on him and Cassidy for playing him so much. If you're going to be a liability on the ice, and a leader in the lockerroom, you need to be able to make decisions to benefit the team. Such a shame too. For such a "clutch" player, he was as big of a reason as why they lost this year as the other five passengers on the top six.

"Injured when it counts" for f***'s sake people. This is literally what happens when you rely on core players in their 30s. Be mad at Sweeney for not having appropriately skilled players to fill in. Be mad at Butch for playing a guy who was trying to play through something so inhibitive.

But roasting Bergeron because he willingly chose to play through a grueling injury is peak Bruins fan.

This fanbase deserves every disappointing, heartbreaking loss that has come its way.

No, roasting him when he willingly choses to point out injuries every time the Bruins get eliminated, as if an injured O'Reilly didn't just skate circles around him on his way to a Cup and Conn Smythe.

He didn't point it out. He was asked about it and replied. Bergeron is the last guy to rely on it as a crutch.

Interesting that you used "skate circles" considering that a groin injury is going to have the biggest effect on one's skating.

Again, Bergeron is 33, soon to be 34. If you're gonna be mad, be mad at the people responsible for assembling the roster and lineup for relying on a 30+ year old player and not having an adequate contingency plan, not the guy who gutted through excruciating pain to try to help the team.

I thought Bergeron had one good game all playoffs. The rest of the time he was a third line plugger all the way (except on the PP at times). It's a wonder we made Game 7 of the Stanley Cup final with Patrice playing so badly. It's really unfortunate that he's become so injury prone, and that we won't be able to rely on him going forward.

You're about as good of a hockey analyst as I an a hockey player...and I'm nowhere close to being able to play in the ECHL.

NHL 20 player ratings have Bergeron's faceoffs at 92. Crosby is at 93.

Bergeron vs. Crosby

18/19 - 56.6% vs. 55.4%
17/18 - 57.3% vs. 53.0%
16/17 - 60.1% vs. 48.2%
15/16 - 57.1% vs. 51.7%
14/15 - 60.2% vs. 49.9%
13/14 - 58.6% vs. 52.5%
12/13 - 62.1% vs. 54.3%
11/12 - 59.3% vs. 50.1%
10/11 - 56.6% vs. 55.7%
09/10 - 58.0% vs. 55.9%
08/09 - 54.5% vs. 51.3%

It took a while to figure out but I get it now. They just confused Bergeron's 08/09 season with his 18/19 season. Crosby comes out on top 55.4% to 54.5%. Makes sense now.

Shame on Patrice Bergeron for playing hockey when he is injured. I have lost all respect for a player that leaves his entire heart and soul on the ice every game..... especially when he is injured and probably should not be on the ice period.

Isn't this the same guy that played with a collapsed lung! This man brings shame to the spoked B.

I think we need to buy him out or send him down to the minors toot sweet!

NHL 20 ratings are a joke I will only respect them if they go back to the way they were in NHL 93 were guys got zeros if they weren't good at things and you had enforcers with ratings in the teens. Gretzky was only mid 70s. Only Granato and a couple other guys had 100 speed.

But these day in age everyone wants a trophy etc etc they can't make the game good like that and ruffle some feathers in the process anymore.
