Yea it's crazy. The team was so pro active in that offseason by signing Nate Thompson to ensure the buzz carried over into next season.

As coladin refered to, the divorce settlement is the biggest stumbling block. His ex wife is seeking for half of the proceeds on the sale of the team. The plan that has been spilled on the street is that he is going to sell or transfer the ownership of the team to his two girls and in turn they will flip it to the new buysrs/owners. I heard this from a credible source in the financing field, but again, this is what I heard and am sharing it as I am excited to hear something is finally materializing.

This unverified information suggests that Eugene is trying to figure out a way to screw over his ex wife and is willing to hold up a major transaction and be a league wide laughingstock until he can work out a way to rip her off.

I'm open to other explanations and this is just my interpretation, but it certainly makes sense in the context of Eugene's MO.

That is the dumb thing. The search, if professionally handled, would have been private or not broadcast as it was as another sideshow.
