But yes, nobody ever denied bad stretches happen to other teams. Other teams also fire their coaches during those bad stretches.

Who cares? All the teams in the Canadian division face those crappy defenses, not every player is scoring like him.

When the leafs make it out of the Canadian division, Matthews will have a hard time being as performant.

The reality is, if the leafs get their top players shut down they will flame out. Just look at how the pens played against the Habs in the bubble, it's the same story.

The leafs IMO are a strawman team.

Ovy isn't playing all his games against shit defenses

One is also 35 years old. Hard to believe. Such a shame that covid ruined his 50 goal season, he would have done it with 10 games. That would have put him at 9 times 50. Only Bossy and Wayne have done that. In addition to it being very hard with work stoppages and pandemic for him to be #1 all time in goals. I do think he will hit #2 at 801.

Hes at 712 and if he played 5 more seasons even at 25 goals a year will hit 837. But he would need 35+ for 5 more to get near waynes 894..steep numbers. Best goal scorer I have ever watched, esp in an era of systems and positional butterfly goal tending. 99 had his best years when 5 goals a game for one team was normal, and not for just the good teams.
