Kid's got brass balls. Good for him. Confidence like that is fuel.

It really depends on what he goes on to do. If Cassius Clay got knocked out a whole bunch of times early in his career, he'd like be held up as an example of why you shouldn't run your mouth. But since he was untouchable, it's part of his greatness.

...like Doughty's infamous Vegas quip.

So Arizona reaches a bit with drafting Hayton because they wanted a centre....A week ago they said Galchenyuk "may" play centre for them.
They also have Strome, Dvorak and Stepan (and now Hayton).
Bold prediction: Galchenyuk doesn't get much for centre time which he proclaims is what he wants. In other words, they don't see him as a centre either.

Or he does and they just trade a centre for whatever they need.

A few notes. There is nothing wrong with playing Galchenyuk on the wing if he's playing with a good center. Montreal did not have any centers.

There is also nothing wrong with hedging your bets, in fact it's very smart. Arizona recognizes how important the center position is by trading for a player with potential to play center and drafting one. You can always play a center on the wing, you can't play a winger at center.

Kovalchuk to La for 3 years
I guess Paciorettys plane is still in the runway

Whats there cap like? Max for 1 year at 4.5 might still be something they would be interested in and Habs could take some cap off them to sweeten the deal.

Tavares will meet with 5 teams. The only one confirmed that won't be one of the five are the Rangers.

Also, Orpik placed on unconditional waivers to be bought out. Imagine that. Win the Cup, get traded, get bought out all in the same month.

Will Arizona be playing Bryon and De La Rose above Galchenyuk?

Could we maybe take Orpik for something? Or COL doesn't care about the money?

If Habs are going into next season with the same team then might as well use the cap space to take bad contracts and get picks/prospects.

Almost no one outside of these boards thinks AG is a C

Elias Lindholm and Hanifin were available.

Bergevin could have offered Weber, Pacioretty, and two second rounders. That would have been competitive with Calgary's offer.

Tough.

So Tavares 5 teams are reported to be: Toronto, SJ, Dallas, Tampa, Kings

Thoughts?

There are good arguments for each of those teams.

Toronto: More sponsorship money. The current core is young and may have the opportunity to compete for many cups. The core is not enough right now, biut may be with Tavares, and their AHL team is number one which is a good sign.

San Jose: if he sets up a tinder profile there he will the only guy who isn't a nerdy tech bro. The opportunities for sex should then be really high.

Dallas: Lower taxes, and Radulov would be the best winger that he's ever had. The management there is strong. The team can then improve further by dropping Spezza down to the third line.

Tampa Bay: Lower taxes. He can play with Stamkos, Kucherov, Hedman, and Sergachev. I'm not sure how'd they fit him under the cap. Honestly Tavares on the Bolts sounds scary.

Kings: Strong management group, opportunity to play with Kovalchuk.

All great choices.

Wondering: why is Nashville not in the mix? Vegas?

Actually the plane was on the way to LA and then it was diverted to San Jose, but for some reason it took the direction back to east and made a quick stop in NY. From what I understand, the plane is now on the way back to Montreal.

Yes, Max Pacioretty will be a Montreal Canadiens on opening night.

I'm not convinced of it just yet. Kovalchuk just signed yesterday, so those teams that struck out are still looking for a winger. This week, those teams might be looking at talking to pending UFAs too, possibly other wibgerswvia trade.

If patches is still here in mid July, then I'll feel comfortable saying that he'll be back. Until then, who knows what will happen.

Regardless, I highly doubt that the Habs are being offered the kinds of peices this board expects, but I'd unload him anyways, and continue to to accumulate as many picks as possible.

Dougie Hamilton getting traded again after only a few years in an org - probably not a good sign.

There's a post on the main board questioning whether he's autistic....uh, ok.

I'm guessing he's not the most socialable of people then.

Good trade for Calgary.

You mean after the Habs bungled his development as one? Guy has played wing for 6 years and you say "they don't see him as a centre either" That's rich. He's done as a C.

So the guy doesn't go to the bars after the game with the guys, instead enjoys reading a book. I could give less a crap about that stuff. Dougie is a possession monster who generates tons of shots. He will be loved in Carolina quickly.
