I think you're going too young on the depth positions. Imo, a lot of the older prospects will get every opportunity for evaluation before the team walks away from any of them: Paul, Puempel, Claessen, Robinson, Dzingel, etc.

Zibby finally shows chemistry with a winger and we separate them? I wouldn't. Who knows though.

I thought White going back to Boston U for next season. Was that confirmed?

Also, Boro has a 1-way contract for next season. Where did he go?

Thoughts ?

Varone? Ewanyk? Erkamps? O'Connor over Hammond?

I don't want to offend or anythig here, so I'll jusy say "I respecrfully disagree" on all 4 guys as far as this coming season is concerned and leave it at that.

- Also: Puempel is not a center.
- Also also: pretty sure White is returning to Boston College.
- Also also also: I don't want to see us rush Chabot, I'd rather not see him in Ottawa yet unless he blows the org away in camp.

If no big FA moves are made, the top 6 should definitely be:

Mac-Turris-Ryan
Hoffman-Zbad-Stone

I hope Chabot doesn't slide in on D.

We need a solution to 4C if Smith moves up permanently; we have a couple kids that would fit the bill.

mac turris ryan
smith pageau stone
hoff lazar zibby
dzingle madmax neil

(3 first lines and a benchwarmer line that will eventually be replaced by a combo of our draft pick this year/perron/white/puempel)
we let chiasson go and puempel/paul/white go to the ahl/back to school

methot karlsson
phaneuf ceci
wier wideman
boro

Wier isn't qualified and goes to free agency where he elects to take a pay cut and return to Ottawa. Chabot goes back to the CHL and Englund comes over and plays in the AHL as our first callup. Oh and Boro will have a really small leash.

We will attempt to sign a few UFA's, However their asking prices will be too high (nothing to do with Melnyk, It just won't be feasible to fit them under the cap long term)

You would have to think with new management & coaches in place that lineup changes are inevitable but based a little on some of last yr's successful lineups & if no new players are added I could see ...

2. Hoffman - Zibanejad - Lazar - three guys who all need to step up this season
2. MacArthur - Turris - Ryan - a top line last yr
2. Smith - Pageau - Stone - top line to end the season
4. Puempel - Paul - Chiasson/Neil - these two split the 4th line RW spot
- Dzingel starts the yr in Bingo

1. Methot - Karlsson - good top pairing
2. Phaneuf - Ceci - very good second pairing
3. Chabot - Wideman/Boroweicki - Chabot could be too good to return to junior, Boro & Wideman share the last spot
3. Boroweicki - Wideman/Claesson - if Chabot is returned to junior

Yup, I see it quite like that too, we don't have a clear #1 line, but lots of #2's. Hopefully one of them stands out next season and becomes a clear #1. The SPS line might be the most consistent one. It should be make or break for Zbad this year. If he can't be consistent or shows up for training camp with a beer belly, put him on the trade block.

I would like to remind everyone that Patrick Eaves in an UFA this offseason, and now that Murray isn't GM anymore, he could be (please please please please please) an option again.

Teams that are having the most success are the ones who can spread out their offense on three lines rather than having a heavy top 6, a checking line and a 4th line. Blues and Pens are certainly good examples and I think we have the depth to do the same.

The next time Eaves plays 75 games in a season will be the first time in his entire career.
Hasn't been able to play more than 55 games in a single season in over 5 years. Hasn't been able to top 65 games in a season in over 7 years.

I know he's near and dear to you, but Eaves isn't the answer to any question I have about our team.

I think the forward combinations will hinge on MacArthur's status. If he's good to go he'll be eased in and probably not start right away on the top line. Who knows, one wrong hit and he could retire.

Chiasson is the other wild card here. New coach might think they would use him differently. Or Dorion could move him at the Draft in a package.

Is Lazar a centre (he prefers it)? - Then we'd roll with Turris, Zibanejad, Pageau, Lazar; putting Smith to the LW again. Paul probably the 13 then.

I like the fact Boucher is going to be talking to his roster to get their input and ideas on tings. It should give him a true picture of who has what issues and who is flexible enough to deal with them for the team's betterment.

I'm seeing

Hoffman - Turris - Ryan - MacArthur gets there when ready
Smith - Pageau - Stone - They earned it
MacArthur - Zibanejad - Ryan - MacArthur will move up I'd think
Paul - Lazar - Dzingel - Dzingel may start in Binghamton (sucks)
Neil - because Murray signed him

Puempel - He will not clear waivers ala Prince. Dorion needs to make a decision. Same with Chiasson.

There are too many knocking at the door - Varone, Akeson, McCormick, Robinson and then Perron, White and the like.

For the D, I could see Phaneuf playing with Karlsson. He's vocal and aware of what is going on. Might be something Boucher tinkers with. Methot - Ceci would be fine. Ceci is coming into his own these last months. That has to do with Phaneuf as well I think.

Claesson, Englund, Chabot are decisions to be made as well.

[68-7-61] - Before Turris was injured this line was excellent.
[16-93-6] - I have a strong feeling Zib will be $ this next season, carrying any weight from 16+6.
[43-44-27] - Energy line.
[15-13/22-25/90] - Grinders.

Pretty much exactly how I'd like to see it. If Dzingel outplays Paul or Puempel, then Lazar slides into the #4 slot. Or Chiasson walks and Dzingle and Neil share 12th F duty.
