MGM to start charging for drinks in 2020 (comp'd drinks will depend on membership/loyalty card and/or $$/time spent).

And the bean counters are puzzling why visitation is down during a good economy.

Resort fees. CNF fees. Paid parking. Tough comps. And on and on. Problem is those running the casinos anymore are Wharton grads who have no clue about the gaming industry. They would be more suited to running a bank, or an insurance or pharmaceutical company, industries where the main objective is to screw people as hard as possible.

Less and less reasons to visit here when a person can get much better value staying home and patronizing a casino closer to where they live. Corporates are destroying Las Vegas, and they don't see it. And when the next inevitable recession hits, it's gonna make what happened here during the last one look like good times.

'Tis a shame. :(

Casino's main objective is to screw people as hard as possible as well, they just have always tried to do it while the people had a smile on their faces!

Say whatever you want about city living. It's supposed to suck. I pay too much for my apartment, traffic getting out of here is usually crap.

However, it's a beautiful sunny day, and I open my door and there's some dude playing the sax on the street that I can hear while I play RDR2.

It's kind of worth it.

Locals who were too cheap to pay for airport parking and parked at the casinos for free and caught a taxi to McCarren are to blame. For mgm properties, get the credit card (you don't have to use it) and enjoy free parking or if you know anyone on a high enough members club tier that gets free parking and doesn't go to games, borrow their card. This is what we do. If my girlfriend has to meet me from work at TMobile, I use the cc and she uses her cousins card who lives in Hawaii to get free parking. We park at Aria and walk to the arena. I'm sure that lots of other people do the same thing or park further down the strip and catch the tram.

OT Thread confession:

I enjoy music from all genres and pretty much everything since 1950 or so. I have some favorites, I never really got into punk, but I dig new wave and I love grunge.

Shake It Off will be included in the best songs of the 2010s and it absolutely deserves to be.

There is an unverified rumor floating around various online lacrosse communities that Knights owner Bill Foley has submitted a bit for a National Lacrosse League expansion team in Vegas.

It would not be entirely shocking considering the owners of the Avalanche, Sabres, Canucks, Flames, and Flyers own NLL teams. It's a lower cost sport but it's the top level of pro lacrosse in the world, and it's 9-13 extra arena dates per year for the owners to collect ticket, concessions, parking, and merch revenue.

It would be pretty cool like lacrosse and wouldn’t mind it getting bigger and more accessible, I assume they’d be looking at T-mobile not Sure though they could fill it for lacrosse but I could be wrong. But until it happens go roughnecks

It's doubtful they'd fill it up.

They'd likely need 8,000-10,000 per game to break even in a big arena like that. League average is 9,600 this year.
