Really? I think this is great. Gruby was worth a first by himself. Orpik was the anchor that pulled it to a second. But they have space to keep the team together. And they got a valuable pick.

Thanks for the memories Grubs and Orpik. Both of you contributed to the success of this team and now we can use that money to sign Carlson and Wilson asap. Amazing I used to loathe Orpik as a Pen, but one of my favorite Caps.

I think it's less about Carlson than Kempny and perhaps Beagle. I'd still shop Burakovsky, though, just to gauge the market in case. It need not happen today or tomorrow but maybe next week and only more on their terms.

Thats why I said "unless." I'm not jumping off any bridge, but if the plan is to use the raise in the cap/Orpik's contract/Grubs savings all just to re-sign guys, then I think we screwed up.

I was reading there's not much separation in talent between somewhere in the 20s and around pick 50. Have a chance to pick up 3 strong prospects now.
