PHI has a good team but like COL they are already at the cap amd have some decisions to make. Hart probably eats up a bunch of any savings by expiring contracts and they will also have to pay Patrick some thing decent if he has a decent season. They are essentially locked into their current team for the near and medium term. Hard to say if it’s good enough to win a cup but they are well ahead of NJ for now.

Flyers are a good team, not sure why anyone thinks otherwise. And yeah losing in 7 in the 2nd round isn’t really anything to be ashamed over. They have a deep team and if Hart gets right they’ll be a very tough out in the playoffs.
I think they’re pretty average. I don’t think their defense is very good at all. They’ll be better when Couturier is back, but I’m not very impressed.

Boston is the only team to beat the Flyers so far. That’s curious.

Plus the Flyers regularly play “rope a dope.” They come out and just sort of counterpunch every game and are then a great third period club. Their trouble with Boston is that the Bruins have thrown better 3d periods at them the last two games.

Boston has exposed them on D down low right in front of the goal mouth.

You are very astute to notice how dominant the Cats have been this year. That said, they will have to go through NYB or the Rags in the finals to do any real damage. Not to mention CAR is also in that division. Very dangerous team.

Goals against review for Friday’s games

Bruins vs Flyers: 1 goal against Rask, no chance. 2 goals against Elliott, 1 stoppable.

Red Wings vs Lightning: 2 goals against Greiss, 1 stoppable. 1 goal against Vasilevskiy, no chance.

Predators vs Panthers: 2 goals against Rinne, no chance on either. 1 goal against Driedger, no chance.

Kings vs Golden Knights: 4 goals against Quick, 2 stoppable. 1 goal against Petersen in relief, no chance. 2 goals against Fleury, 1 stoppable.

Sharks vs Ducks: 4 goals against Jones, 3 stoppable. 4 goals against Gibson, 2 stoppable.

So that’s 24 goals scored on goalies, 10 are stoppable. That’s 41% of the goals scored were stoppable. Combined save percentages were .920%.

The Kings are paying for past mistakes right now, between Kovi, Mike Richards, Dion Phaneuf, and the corpse of Quick, they're dishing out over 16 million dollars this season...ouch. Quick is making 5.8 mil till 2023, ugly remnants of past success

that is beyond crazy !, it's not a lot of money (per year) but the length omg, how'd they get away with that?
Quick got a 10 year max deal when he was 26 years old, there’s two years left.

Richards had a 12 year deal that was bought out with 5 years left. Richards was 22 when the Flyers gave him that contract. He unfortunately played a very physical game and completely broke down. I always thought 12 year contracts were ludicrous, and Richards is a prime example why, but he was a very promising star before he fell off the face of the earth due to injuries.

Sure there’s some players you would want signed to a 12 year deal but it’s a small group and too many guys who shouldn’t have one will get one if they exist.

New Jersey(No Fanz!)
Remember when people were worried about Vancouver's pick if it got pushed to this year? They stink
Imagine another 1st overall! :naughty:

Amazing how things develop....

RELEASE: Devils acquire Nolan Foote and First-Round Pick

The New Jersey Devils today traded forward Blake Coleman to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for left wing Nolan Foote and Vancouver's first-round pick in the 2020 NHL Draft (previously acquired by Tampa Bay). The condition on the pick is as follows: if Vancouver fails to qualify for the 2020 NHL playoffs, New Jersey shall then receive Vancouver's first-round selection in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft instead of a first-round selection in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.

Hmm....so if Vancouver does not make the playoffs this year, then we can look forward to a possible #1 pick in the 2nd draft 2021(they're doing both 2020 and 2021 drafts that Summer)

Have you been drinking? It’s 2021, we did the 2020 draft already, the Devils had those three 1sts picks Holtz, Mercer, the Russian kid (Mukhamadullin was taken with the Vancouver pick). Ring any bells? (I mean this in sweetest tone possible btw.)

Having four teams at .500 is pretty wild, no one can argue that this isn’t a very competitive division.
