One interesting side story for the SCF will be the dismissal of Bowness a couple of years back by Yzerman which also seemed to have the blessing of Cooper. Doesn't sound like it was amicable.

In Game 5, Doc brought it up and said how Cooper said he was happy for Bowness. Olczyk immediately jumped in to infer it wasn’t amicable.

It seems like it wasn't Cooper's decision. You can say he went along with it but coaches often don't get to hire their whole staff anyway.

Lightning vs Islanders: 1 goal against Vasilevskiy and it’s stoppable. 2 goals against Varlamov, 1 stoppable.

So that’s 3 goals scored on goalies, 2 are stoppable. That’s 66% of the goals scored were stoppable. Combined save percentages were .960%.

Softy of the night is this Hedman goal on Varlamov. This might have been the worst rebound I’ve seen lead to a goal the entire playoffs so far. Brian Boucher was still talking about how weak it was in the 3rd period.

Interesting that TB doesn't put anyone in front of the net. No screens, no "big body presence" or whatever. All four guys without the puck are passing options, and they're still fast/smart enough to get rebounds.

Because Barzal is not the star people think he is. He is a good player allowed to basically completely free wheel offensively while the amazing structure of the other 4 guys on the ice always have him covered.

He deteriorated as it went on and TB took away what he wanted to do according to the announcing team. He's only about 22-23? He'll be better in the future I expect.

He's pretty impressive when he's on. If NJ replicates that sort of approach with Jack with similar results I wouldn't complain.
