Take the night off Saturday Bleed. It can be a Christmas present to yourself .

On another note, do you have a good speaking voice? I bet if you did these (just more condensed) and focused on the top 3 SOTN videos, that you could build yourself up to a lot of hits weekly on YouTube.
I’m gonna do it still, as promised! What I usually do on weekends is I try to view the early game highlights early. I put down what I’ve tallied in a note pad on my phone, because I’ll confuse myself if I edit the file I have all the data saved on if I don’t update it all at once. Then I finish the rest and type it all out in a post on here. Then update my main file.

I have a decent speaking voice, but only when reading someone else’s material or something written. When I speak as I go, I get a little too passionate, I start talking too fast, then I’ll start ranting. Much like my posts that you see on this forum!

Or else I would do a video every night or something. I’m surprised the goalie union hasn’t already sent me a cease and desist letter for these reviews and the accompanying softy of the night videos.

Anybody see any footage of the Ducks/Rangers game last night? Anybody notice anything about Chad Johnson? Take a look. I’ll give you a hint. It’s not related to his play at all.

Take a look.

Are you referring to this abortion?

Softy of the night goes to Chad Johnson for this. Game winning goal with under a minute left in regulation too. Pathetic.

That Goal-song makes me want to punch a Rags fan for some reason. :sarcasm:

I think you mean his helmet...from the first clip it looks like he's wearing a Blues-themed helmet (which actually makes sense since he was just acquired from there), which would be hilarious if he was playing them.

Haha it’s the Blues mask! I thought that was hilarious. Hasn’t he been there a couple weeks already? Figured he’d have the generic or spray painted white one by now.

Goals against review for tonight. All 2 games of it.

Penguins vs Capitals: 1 goal against Murray, no chance. 2 goals against Holtby, no chance on either. Murray may have gotten the benefit of lack of replay on his goal against. Couldn't see if he was deked and it opened up his 5-hole or if it went through the arm. Lack of definitive replay on his right side. I don't count 5-hole goals through dekes or when the goalie is sliding a significant stretch as stoppable. Holtby had absolutely no chance on either goal allowed. No question about that.

Canadiens vs Avalanche: 2 goals against Price, 1 stoppable. 1 goal against Grubauer, no chance.

6 goals scored on goalies tonight, 1 stoppable. That's just about 17% of goals allowed tonight were stoppable. Combined save percentages tonight were .952%. Both games were 2-1 final scores.

Softy of the night goes to Carey Price for this goal. The only stoppable one of the night. It wasn't stoppable the way it went into the net, but he turns it over with a pathetic pass right in front of the net. Pretty sure they at least gave Price the secondary assist on this.

Since it's December (and late December now) now, I think it's a good time to break down some of these findings. Particularly for goalies with a similar save percentage and a similar stoppable goal count as Keith Kinkaid. All stoppable goal percentages are rounded to the nearest half.

Keith Kinkaid: 27 games played, .902% save percentage, 77 goals allowed, 22 stoppable goals allowed. 28.5% of goals allowed stoppable.
Carey Price: 28 games played, .902% save percentage. 79 goals allowed, 23 stoppable goals allowed. 29% of goals allowed stoppable.
Martin Jones: 25 games played, .901% save percentage, 68 goals allowed, 20 stoppable goals allowed. 29% of goals allowed stoppable.
Jacob Markstrom: 25 games played, .904% save percentage, 76 goals allowed, 21 stoppable goals allowed. 27.5% of goals allowed stoppable.
Louis Domingue: 18 games played. .905% save percentage, 53 goals allowed, 15 stoppable goals allowed. 28.5% of goals allowed stoppable.
Sergei Bobrovsky: 24 games played, .905% save percentage, 65 goals allowed, 20 stoppable goals allowed. 31% of goals allowed stoppable.
Roberto Luongo: 15 games played, .906% save percentage, 40 goals allowed, 11 stoppable goals allowed. 27.5% of goals allowed stoppable.
Craig Anderson: 30 games played, .907% save percentage, 99 goals allowed, 27 stoppable goals allowed. 27.5% of goals allowed stoppable.
Connor Hellebuyck: 26 games played, .908% save percentage, 73 goals allowed, 22 stoppable goals allowed. 30% of goals allowed stoppable.
Antti Raanta: 12 games played, .906% save percentage, 33 goals allowed, 10 stoppable goals allowed. 30.5% of goals allowed stoppable.
Corey Crawford: 23 games played, .902% save percentage, 71 goals allowed, 19 stoppable. 27% of goals allowed stoppable.
Phillipp Grubauer: 14 games played, .904% save percentage, 40 goals allowed, 9 stoppable goals allowed. 22.5% of goals allowed stoppable.
Marc-Andre Fleury: 31 games played, .908% save percentage, 79 goals allowed, 20 stoppable goals allowed. 25.5% of goals allowed stoppable.

Now these are only for guys near Keith Kinkaid in save percentage and a minimum of 12 games played. All of these guys are between a .901% and .908% save percentage and 11 of them are between 27% and 31% of stoppable goals for percentage by my count. With 8 of the 13 being between 27% and 29% stoppable goals for percentage. So it's pretty close. Fleury and Grubauer are the two outliers in stoppable goals percentage in the same neighborhood save percentage wise.

In before ''No way Kinkaid has allowed 22 stoppable goals, the DEE sucks, blah, blah, blah, blah. I've only counted 8 stoppable goals!'' or something.

when you dabble in the ridiculously subjective ‘stoppable goal’ business, that’s the kind of reaction you can expect.

hey does anyone know offhand how many scoreable shots taylor hall has had this year?

And whenever someone refutes my stoppable goals analysis then I throw up my hands and lazily say “Look at the stats”. And they aren’t terrible, but they’re below average. Because it leaves me no other option.

The goalie sympathy here is off the wall since this is the worst goaltended year we’ve had since the 80’s. It’s not really as much on Kinkaid since he’s only supposed to be here to be the backup, but when Keith Kinkaid is the only serviceable goalie and best on your roster, you’re bound to have some problems.

As I’ve said before, I’m trying to provide some context here. I’m doing this so I don’t have to tell you to look at the stats. I’m doing this as a means to delve into why the stats say what they do and if they corroborate what I’m seeing.

And in many cases (not all) they are.

well, nobody is disputing that the pucks are going in. it’s the reasons why the pucks are going in that are really subjective. look at the gdt every time one of our goalies let in a goal. people on both sides simultaneously saying that it was the goalie’s fault and not the goalie’s fault. if you’re watching youtube highlights or looking at the goals in a vacuum, i’m sure a lot of them seem ‘stoppable’. if you’re considering things like screens, power play vs even strength, and yes- defensive zone breakdowns/piss poor coverage, it gets so murky that it loses any value it might otherwise have

I try and break down every goal. I don’t just look at the highlight and that’s it. Some goals you don’t need a replay to say it was bad, like that goal that got Cory yanked against Vegas or that blatant Carey Price giveaway last night. But I try and look at all angles, all camera views (if possible) and replays if I’m gonna call a goal stoppable.

There’s been goals that I’ve seen and went “That looks bad” and then I’ll see that it went off a skate in the crease on replay.

And to answer the Taylor Hall question, I’m sure there’s been stoppable goals he’s scored. That OT winner on Cam Ward last year really sticks out in memory.

Goals against review for tonight

Devils vs Blue Jackets: 2 goals against Blackwood, no chance on either. 1 goal against Bobrovsky, no chance.

Ducks vs Bruins: 3 goals against Gibson, no chance on any. 1 goal against Halak, no chance.

Panthers vs Maple Leafs: 5 goals against Luongo, no chance on any. 1 goal against Reimer in relief, no chance. 1 goal against Andersen, no chance.

Predators vs Flyers: 2 goals against Rinne, 1 stoppable. 1 goal against Hart, no chance.

Wild vs Penguins: 2 goals against Dubnyk, both are stoppable. 1 goal against DeSmith and it's stoppable.

Red Wings vs Hurricanes: 1 goal against Bernier and it's stoppable. 3 goals against Mrazek, no chance on any.

Blackhawks vs Stars: 2 goals against Ward, 1 stoppable. 3 goals against Bishop, no chance on any. One looked a bit borderline though.

Lightning vs Flames: 4 goals against Domingue, 2 stoppable. 4 goals against Rittich, no chance on any.

Canadiens vs Coyotes: 1 goal vs Price, no chance. 2 goals vs Kuemper, no chance on either.

Blues vs Canucks: 4 goals against Allen, 2 stoppable. 1 goal against Markstrom, no chance. Guess who's probably gonna get softy of the night?

Islanders vs Golden Knights: 3 goals against Greiss, 1 stoppable. 2 goals against Fleury, 1 stoppable.

Jets vs Sharks: 3 goals against Hellebuyck, 2 stoppable. 4 goals against Jones, no chance on any.

So that's 59 goals scored on goalies tonight, 16 are stoppable. That's about 27% of the goals allowed tonight are stoppable. Combined save percentages were a pretty good .923% tonight. They seem to be creeping back up a bit the last few nights.

I thought maybe Domingue would get the softy of the night tonight, but when you allow a dead angle goal like this, how can you not make softy of the night? Especially when you do it over and over again. Mike Smith and Jake Allen have both played at least as poorly on the eye test as their save percentages, and they've both allowed so many just very weak and pathetic and garbage goals like this all year long. Not even just ''Stoppable'' goals, but really ugly goals like this.

Had to shave one stoppable goal off Jones. I know it's Jones and Jones isn't very good and his save percentage this year sucks and every time it comes .900%, right down it goes the next game or two, but I don't think I can justify nailing him on the one goal in question. He wayyyyyy overplayed it, but then he gets mowed down by Sharks awesome defenseman Justinincredibly Awful Braun. He probably still doesn't make it back to the net in time to stop the puck, but it's unfair to nail him on that after what his shitty defenseman runs him down and impedes him.
