Noticed you didn't mention the canucks either.

Here I have a result of a vote of "your favourite team" on a big swedish forum.

Speaking of Marino, Holland really should have put some conditions on that 6th round pick coming back. Things like averaging 20 mins TOI per game or .5 PPG. Things that would have sounded so far fetched to Pittsburgh they would have had no issue giving a higher pick if they happened. They would have probably parted with a 1st if they knew they'd be getting this much out of him.

As far as goal scoring it remains to be seen how effective Yama will be. He had the whole net to shoot at there on a perfect long cross ice feed. For a goalie that was no mans land as it was impossible to determine if the pass was to Nuge in the slot, or to Yama. Thus preventing goalie from fully committing to the move across to the other side of net. When the puck is shot by Yama, most of the net is open. A large part of that being due to the Oilers having another target in the slot.

Nice passing play by Drai and Jones but really against a heinous Toronto D allowing virtually everything across which few of our opponents tend to allow lately.

Toronto is just a very bad team in own end. Two passes in succession are allowed cross ice leading to that goal. Leafs are defending air. Really they're just watching the play.

Agree with what you’re saying but I’d add that getting the shot off immediately and accurately is a great sign. The team doesn’t have many that can seem to do that (McDrai, and Nuge, Chiasson and Neal, the latter three at times), but in particular if he can keep that up he could be in one timer territory of similar quality to Draisaitl (best one timer on the team IMO). He’ll have to put in the extra time like Draisaitl (and all great shooters).

On the CHED post game show I can’t recall who was saying it (Rob Brown??) but he said a big part of a one timer isn’t necessarily picking a corner or bar down etc (because of the risk of missing) but getting it off immediately and centered toward the net because the goalie is out of position. This is what Yamamoto did very well on that shot, on top of battling and getting into position. A great sign, fingers crossed he keeps up this level of play.

Thanks for this. Especially pleased to see such low support for Shelbyville. :thumbu:

Did you even watch the AHL this year?
No. I have not watched a minute of AHL. My harsh opinion of Yamamoto in prior years has been based on his WJC play, and pre-season, regular season in the NHL, and in person at the Red Deer rookies game. Prior to this year, I didnt see skating good enough to make him an NHL player. I’m very happy that he appears to have gained a step.
