yes i have and i am one of his biggest critics, i'm not a fan, and think he doesn't have a long term future here, but if he's out for a while, who will replace the points he was actually getting?

Man, he wasn't getting any points. I believe he had 10 or 11 when Mcdavid went down and he has 12 right now. He has literally helped the offence none, zero, nadda. His only point in the last 5 games is a 2 foot assist to hopkins that Cory Cross could have completed.

And I am a HUGE Yakupov fan, always have been. But the cursed/jinxed mentality is ridiculous. This is just a ****** hockey club, plain and simple

Best part of that video is Remenda criticizing Hall for body language. Hall has done basically everything he could for this franchise, yet lets talk about him being frustrated/sad that this team is awful again.

I know, I guess Remenda can't be like "why is the defense ****? No goaltending again? Where is the bottom six scoring", but just an odd thing to say to fill time.

Remenda's a straight up clown. He was even laughing when Klefbom got sticked close to the eye.

Yak was out of the game so even Remenda realized he couldn't keep blaming Yak for how the game went..

he resisted sayng something like this;

"Look at Yak, not paying attention, needs to get his head on a swivel, look out for his man behind him, or official, and not be jobbed like that"

Remenda sure has dead horses he likes to kick. he gives it to yak every single game. usually several times a game.

In anycase perhaps the worst thing is the bench believe what Remenda is saying. Woodcroft and Mclellan have also focused a lot on the body language thing.

Yeah Hall is frustrated. Probably due to trying to haul this team around on his back.

I noticed that as well. If Yak does something well, Remenda says nothing and ignores it. Yak does something wrong, and Remenda goes off on it immediately. Not sure how he has a job, but I really don't like listening to his BS about THIS TEAM IS SO GOOD, YOU CAN'T DO THIS AGAINST THEM, THIS PLAYER IS SUCH A CLASSY INDIVIDUAL! Shut up, Remenda.

Yeah, I agree Remenda has made some straight up crazy statements this year.

Realistically the Oilers don't have a third line right now and it's killing them.

They need

- 1 third line
- 1 top four RHD (*cough* *cough*)
- 1 goalie who can post a .916 or higher.

but, body language!!!

really? so who will replace Yak's point production? Purcell? Slepyshev? Khaira? you don't think that Yakupov is an important part of this team's scoring?

What's there to replace?

Oil looked like last year.
Eberle looked like first half of last year, soft as butter.
RNH wasn't great.
Bottom six sucked.
The D is a little less than average when they're at their best. They weren't.
Goaltending was bad.
Thought Sekera would come around by now. He hasn't.

Hope Chia sees what I see. Build around McDavid, Hall, Drai, Nurse, Klefbom. Everyone else is available. RNH is the next tier, I'd like to keep him but it's not essential. Everyone else is available.
Or should be.

In fairness if I had to spend hours aside Kevin Quinn saying such things as "Nice save by Anderson" (Nillson) and "The Oilers get the puck out, they don't get it out"

I'd probably start drinking and saying stupid things just to match the broadcast.

Quinn doesn't set the bar real high. Its like going out with idiots. Anybody infers you are one as well and maybe you end up acting the part evenutally.

Or its like an internet messageboard..:D

just jk around ;)

Maybe I'm just being blinded by my own fandom of him, but I actually didn't think Yak had been playing as bad as people had been making it out to be. He's being asked to be the offensive driver on a line with two defensive specialists, which is something he isn't capable of at this point in his career.

a buddy of mine on facebook just posted a picture of his 9 year old daughter--we was born during the 05/06 cup run--that put it in perspective for me.

what also does my head in is how many people are now suggesting another top pick will solves all our problems--this team is just cursed

Yeah I was in grade 8 during the cup run. I went through all of high school and my undergraduate degree without ever seeing a playoff game. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if I finish law school before the next one. It's crazy when you put it in the context of your own life how significant the time period really is.

Grade 8? I was in grade 6. I still remember being in class while my teacher who was the assistant principal was blasting kernkraft on the damn school speakers. The whole school was excited.

Yeah, he's pretty awful too. I'm hoping Dustin Nielson somehow gets Quinn's job eventually. Get Nielson and Fraser to do the play by play and colour.

See at least a few years ago when they were finishing last or close too it every year, They always through in some really exciting games or stretches of hockey and made it seem like they was light at the end of the tunnel. It seemed like they were finally turning the corner in the lock out year under Kreuger and in theory with the "5 year rebuild" that is when they should have begun competing. Now you are sitting here telling me they are, and have been worse every season since then. **** me. How does that happen. It's ****ing bull****.

Wtf happened to these guys that showed so much promise?
On a side note, look how lively Rexall looked even just 2 years ago. Now everyone just sits there and maybe stands up if there is a goal. This team is killing the Oiler fan in everyone, including me.

Like I said, the term cursed and inept seem to be confused on this board.

I'm a huge fan,Doesn't mean I am unable to criticize his play. Regardless, this whole argument comes down to your original question of who will replace his points. I dunno, anyone? Anyone who can manage more than .2 PPG?

Hall is still here, still full of skill and promise and plays great for the most part.

RNH hasn't been the same since his shoulder surgery.

And I laugh cause Eberle still doesn't have a hattrick in the NHL.

Hard to believe RNH could be getting worse at faceoffs, and yet he finds a way.

Well looks like it's time to start following my secondary team (capitals) again. Watching the Oilers is starting to make me hate the NHL. It's amazing how different watching hockey is when you are actually following a good team.

Yeah, no.. Purcell's been much better the past couple of games, especially playing with Hall and Drai. Have you been watching lately?
This is from a fan who ripped on Purcell quite a lot btw.
