Arizona does hold the tiebreak over us so if they can somehow win one and get a loser point they will pass us assuming we lose all three games.

McDavid in TO would be a national nightmare. The TO media would shout about it out from the mountain tops for the next 20+ years easily. And in all likelihood for 50.

That was a must win for Ottawa. Now we have to hope for Ottawa to run the table and Pittsburgh to lose their remaining games.

yep and the next day all we would read about is how EVERY UFA is bound to the big smoke and how several established NHLERS have approached their teams asking for a trade to the big smoke

If Ottawa beats the Pens, the Pens will have to win the next 2 games if Ottawa runs the table. Ottawa just needs 3 more points than the Pens. It was a missed opportunity tonight to make it easier on themselves though.

Can't edit for some reason.

It also depends on Boston and Detroit winning their games as well.
Either way, we need the Pens to lose at least 2 out of 3 for any hope of them missing.

Pens got the Sabres to play so that's one guaranteed win still have hopes the sens can run the table though

I wouldn't be so sure. Buffalo and management are fully aware they have the 30th place locked up. Their players may just go play their hearts out just because now.

The sad thing is our players did the same but we still lose. Arizona is the only team I think waiting on us...if we win, they'll keep playing hard. If we lose, they'll probably slow down.

Buffalo still can't afford to win their last couple games. Arizona is only two points ahead of them.

Buffalo can still catch Arizona, Arizona can still catch Edmonton. Nobody can really afford to win yet.

I actually blame our 11 game loosing streak back in December for this one. If we had won a few games in there, it wouldn't have looked so bad and Dallas Eakins would still have his job. We would have last locked up weeks ago had that happened.

...and the 9 game losing streak that immediately followed that one win against San Jose. Those were the days, those were the days. Fun fact: they played "Everything is Awesome, for the Lego Movie, while the Oilers were doing the stick raising thing after the San Jose win.

completely disagree regarding 1C.

Nuge is our 1C now and for the future.
Getting ANOTHER elite C is still a good thing but we are not void of a leading line centre.
