Took me a while to get used to seeing a #19 for the Oilers be physical and stirring **** up.

Helluva fun game, and shows what happens when you add some size and grit that can actually hang with skill. Goes to show that despite, what many have been saying here for the past couple of years, it needn't be one or another. Really looking forward to seeing this lineup with Klef and RNH.

I would.

Should be able to use Ebs and the 1st to improve the D.

Like to have a D like Gosuckanegg. Thought he had some really good offensive instincts and a great shot.

Giveawayshere was awful last night. Directly responsible for two goals. Reminds me of Schultz.

Real solid game and probably one of the most complete efforts we've seen. We took some questionable penalties, but the team fought for each other last night and made those penalties disappear.

Only thing I don't think I'm a fan of was Pardy doing his best RNH impression on the block shot and McDavid on the PK. I guess it's not that bad if he were to get hurt right now, but I don't see the need to be using skill players on the PK. Far too many injuries this year on PK, use your bottom 6 guys.

Yes he got schooled a couple of times, but he also made some nice defensive plays, was dangerous offensively, highly skilled, and gritty.

He's got an absolute cannon of a shot.

I would trade Eberle for him instantly, but there's no way the Flyers would part with him.

Future #1 d-man.

Honestly, most of that **** was started by the Flyers. It's not like the Oilers went in there being dirty for no reason. They were mostly responding to ******** that Philly tried to.pull.

Yup. Ghost initiated that whole sequence by jabbing Hall in the face. We were forced to feed them their lunch, so good job, Flyers.

I noticed Kassian had 20 PIMs last night, is he facing a hearing or just standard Kassian PIMs?

Speaking of which, I don't suppose anyone has footage of him going ape**** do they? I had to miss the rest of the game after the Hall scrum, and I'd really like to see it.

And Pouliot, too. We all know he's not a perfect player but that's another big body up front.

I can't see that happening at his size. He's likely a specialist that can play on a second pairing. I'm not sure he's as smart in his own zone as a Rafalski or a Campbell.

Next year will be interesting for him. There's chance the league figures him out and his size in his own zone becomes a huge liability.

I like the idea of something like this when Pouliot and Nuge are back:

Maroon - Draisaitl - Hall
Pouliot - RNH - Eberle
Kassian - McDavid - Yak

A big body with some skill on every line, along with a really good playmaking center with some defensive chops as well.

ps. That goal Maroon scored last night was outstanding. Look at it in slo-mo. He deflects the point shot perfectly, gets to the rebound for a shot, and then bangs the second rebound out of mid-air into the net. So impressive. I also like how Hall plays with a lot more fire having a big, tough linemate. Great acquisition by Chia.

We seen during the game that every up their physicality.

You have to think RNH, Klef, Pou, and Gryba will also up their physicality when they return.

This is so exciting. Been waiting 10 years to see this brand of Oilers hockey

The Maroon goal made him look like a monster. Bangs the puck in which knocks the defender into the net and the goalie.

Looked like he just shot all 3 into the net in one swing.

People talk (half tongue in cheek I expect) about how much better the Oilers have been since Schultz left.

But I wonder for guys like Hall, Eberle and Yakupov, if they're just relieved the trade deadline is over and they don't have to worry about rumours anymore...until June at least.

Personally, I think with Schultz gone, it boosted their confidence in playing. From what I saw when Schultz was here how many times guys would fly back into the defensive zone to help with defense because it seemed like Schultz didn't care. Probably lifted a huge weight off the forwards and it's giving them breathing room to play their style of offense and kind of relax on defense. Look at how Maroon, Cracknell and Pardy play. All of them are just bullying their way through everyone and it gives the team the extra urge to keep fighting. Like a bunch of people said, as soon it was down 2 goals, we'd give up and fold. Part I feel has to do with Schultz and others who are used to just giving up when they are behind. Kind of hoping we go on a 10 game winning streak and prove to the league we will be a force to be reckoned with next year.
